Which do you prefer? [Windows/Mac/Linux]

NOTE: This is not a flaming thread. Do not fight/flame over which is better. Just list pros and cons of your favorite or least favorite OS. No "your OS sucks" posts.

I would like to know what OS the PMC community prefers. Vote for your favorite then post why you like it.

I personally prefer Ubuntu (Linux) 13.04 x64, because it is free, fast, and it has no compatibility issues with lap-toasters like mine. For my purposes, (basic web browsing, coding, simple gaming) I find it suits all my needs perfectly.

windows 7 is the better of it and windows 8 I think, windows 8 is designed for mobile uses. My grandmother has it on her laptop, it doesn't work well.

Mac is simple!!! It doesn't speak computer speak! It speaks english.

I found windows to be clunky, complex and slow.
Windows can get viruses, macs there is only 1 known virus.

Macs work better because the hardware and the software are both made by apple, so they can put in features that they know will work. There is much better software-hardware integration.

Macs can run hd games and have beautiful displays.

PS Why is there a Mac other option there! Who would want to run......................

I really hate to sound like an Apple fanboy on this thread, but Macs can also run full 1080p apps and games.

Linux is nice too, but here is Why I prefer Mac
- It's secure, no viruses can be found on Mac computer, unless you work hard to find some on the web.
- It's perfect for people who have other iDevices like iPhones, Apple TV etc.
- You can install Windows on a Mac Computer using BootCamp
- You can run every Windows program on Mac using CrossOver or Wine as smooth as it runs on PC.
- Easy new firmware installation.
- Comes with iLife (Pages, Keynote..) which are really usefull for presentation and etc.
(iLife documents can be viewed by any browser[expect iE but who cares] on Windows / Linux)
and more..

Ok I have to say this. You CAN get a virus on ANY computer. It does not matter what OS. If you go into the windows cmd and type del C:\Windows\System32 that is considered a virus. Just because it's harder on a system does not mean that it is impossible.

It actually is impossible to unknowingly get a virus on a Mac. Anything that wants root access has to get the administrator password.

Yeah, Macs have like a million hurdles to jump. Plus, unless you tell it to via settings with an admin password, a Mac won't let you launch an app unless it's downloaded from the Mac App Store

Nope, Macs actually are very easy to use. It's all a matter of opinion, but I find Windows to be very convoluted, with a million hurdles to jump. I don't want to start a flame war, so please leave it at that. You prefer Windows, I prefer the Mac OS.

Linux (mint 14 to be specific) simply because of the insane amount of freedom that comes with it and linux. Also because i always love a bit of a computer related challenge. Best way to learn

I prefer Windows, because most games run on windows.
ithink windows is very user friendly and im happy with the design of the Windows and the ability to customize almost everything.
Mac is also good

but im never gonna use Ubuntu ever because i once used it on my mom's pc when my pc was away for reparation and i did one day just finding out how to install java, and its not user friendly the way you install skype and teamspeak (You have to use what windows users call: Command Line)

I like Windows 8. The start menu comes closer to the apps on OS X that my dad loves. Unfortunately, he HATES anything Microsoft, and won't go with ANYTHING not made by Apple. So I call him an iDiot. (That's from a poster I found, by the way.)

MusicrafterI want Windows because I've got some games that only work on PCs.

Depending on the games, it is quite easily possible to install some windows games under Linux/Ubuntu.
With http://www.winehq.org/ (WINE) I have been able to install GTA San Andreas on Ubuntu 13.04 with minimal effort/trouble.

I prefer windows 8.

All computers that I own are really really slow and old. Windows 8 seems to speed it up quite a bit. Even though a lot of people don't like how the start menu is in 8, I don't mind it.

I like Windows. Windows 8 seems really nice, with a redesigned start menu... I'm hoping my new laptop will have Windows 8, but I might have to go with 7 depending on what I can afford. Definitely not OS X or Linux/Ubuntu... I want Windows because I've got some games that only work on PCs.
