Looks like Minecraft 1.2 was rushed out with bugs.....
Anyway, the new 1.2.3 update features the following:
* Fixed crash bug at height 255
* Corrected Zombies and Skeletons not burning in sunlight
* Corrected birch and spruce saplings not growing at height > 127

The emergency updates aren't bad, id rather have them than the snapshots

yeah but when they fix bugs more bugs can appear, and lots of people got pissed off about a pre-release for only bugs, so we SHOULD be happy they are doing it in less than a day

I updated my minecraft to 1.2.2, it crashed, then it updated to 1.2.3
