I hate how every so often, my minecraft laggs out, especially in pvp. How do I avoid it?

Can you guys give me other suggestions that do not involve changing computers? Because there is a low chance of that happening
1
So I wasted half an hour making that build for you? You asked me to make it.
1
No, I was just saying that to see if there were any other options for in the meantime, I guess I worded it a lot wrong.
1
Well, that IS the best way to do it. I used to get 10-15 fps, then I got a new PC. Now I get around 90, which is so fast, my monitor can't even display it. Optifine worked okay for me, but it doesn't do anything for some people. If I were you, I'd use some kind of game booster software.
1
Get a better computer :p
1
I am trying to.
1
To get less lag?
If you can do /gamerule randomTickSpeed 0
But it stops everything from growing.

All this talk about donuts......now I'm hungry.
1
-Woody-Seriously, who only has the appetite for only one donut? Lol
Java does. As CheesyRice said, Minecraft would only grab up to 250MB. For somebody who just ate a large meal, or doesn't really like doughnuts, they'd take only 1 (such as me; one doughnut by itself is not really something I'd be happy to take). It can be considered a good analogy because Minecraft isn't a ultra heavy Triple-A game; it's just a "modest" indie game that has the appetite for only one donut. If you consider RAM allocation as doughnuts, Minecraft is clearly the kind that is fine with only one doughnut.
1
Nice okay dude.
1
I see now why you asked if I was copying your specs LOL. Looks like we have the same type of OS. Go follow the things I did in that Discussion section post I told you about, I'm running around 62fps now
And FYI, when I throw my LiteLoader and World Edit mods back on, AND throw my 512x texture pack on I still get the same fps.

Is The razor game booster free?
1
Yes it is. I did some follow up test today with Razor and Iobit's game boosters. Both only seen around a 10fps increase. Go to the Discussions section of the forum and find the post similar to this 1, it's a topic something about less lag or more FPS. Anyways I did a lot of test today, go read up on the results I experienced.
1
Ok ddude
1
I messed with mine a lil today, changed my render distance from 10 to 6 and only got around a 2fps increase. May have different effect for others but not enough of an increase for me.
1
Well, I would suggest Razor Game Booster, it boosts your fps on every game registered with it, It's easy to set up and it does help (Gave me a 600fps boost) I get 300 normally so.
Good Luck!
Good Luck!
1
I couldn't get Razor's Game Booster to work with my MC. I've used it on other games before but it's like it wont register my MC for some reason.
1
Add more ram to your minecraft
1
This litterally won't do anything. Minecraft almost never uses more than 250mb of ram on max settings. If you allocate more ran that's like you have a donut, and someone gives you 3 more donuts. Then you eat your donut, and the other 3 go to waste.
Op bestbuy sells pc parts, I'll let shad make the build.

Which part are you talking about? You can see here my used memory goes over 500mb, and I'm on lowest settings.

Could be that you are using forge with mods.
[/quote]
I DO use Forge with mods BUT there's no change without mods. I've tested different things over and over in different variations to find where I get the absolute best performance. For example, I have no reason to enter a MP server with my LiteLoader and World Edit mods installed (these are also the only mods I use period) So I've ran series of test without any mods, just Optifine, to see the best results. Sure these things will change the fps, but that used memory never seems to change.
Now it's not stable at that rate. When I took that screenshot (501MB) it still climbed to around 520. It'll peak around there then drop back down to the 200 area and slowly climb back up until it reaches peak again and it does this the entire time I'm in game.
So for the sake of argument, I believe allocating more memory to MC does help. Maybe it doesn't actually help your fps, BUT, before I added memory my games allocated memory was something like 480MB....the "used memory" climbs higher than that so when it would reach that 480 mark it would lock my game up (puts the CPU at 100%). I don't know exactly how to explain it but that used memory part climbs to the max the game would allow and caused me to freeze up. Since I added more I have no worries at all on it doing that ever again. Now even at that 520MB or so t climbs to is nowhere close to peaking whats available for the game.
Again I can agree with you that this wont do anything for fps gains per say, but it does help some with lower end computers or those of us with lower RAM or whatever.

^^^^ Render Distance 4? I know everyone has their own likings but I cant deal with anything less than 10
1
Well, I'm the kind that can literally survive with absolute bare minimum render distance. I love the fog that comes with it.
1
Same here but OP has some very low specs.
1
Oh I see. I thought you were showing your specific settings.
1
If you use optifine here are some examples I set that should work well. I really wouldn't go lower with the view distance.

Rember, I'm 13, my parents don't let me get a computer because they think "there is no point in getting a new one." BUT, if I get streight A's then they WILL. And does brightness affect anything? Because I hacked(edited it on the options.txt file) it up to 5.0(500%).
1
Brightness would not affect game performance.
Assuming you get straight A's, how much would your parents spend to get this new computer?

I don't know, maybe no more than $500. But I saw a $490 pc from walmart with
8Gb RAM, 1TB HDD, intel i-3 and Intel HD Graphics, and then another one that is $350 that got 4gb ram, 1tb hdd, and Intel Pentium with Graphics or something like that. The secound one I mentioned is the one that's most likely that my parents will buy.

This computer's under $430 before mail-in rebates, and is a lot more powerful than either of those.

Download optifine and turn down some of your settings like render distance I hope that helped.

Would you be willing to buy a PC? If so, what is your budget?
1
Although there's a large amount of posts, OP already said in like the second page that his parents won't let him get a new PC. Derp.
1
It would really depend on if the author is willing to spend money on it at all.
