Maximum amount of cores Minecraft can use
Hi, I recently bought a AMD 5950X cpu, and I’ve been playing Minecraft on it, with SEUS PTGI. I feel like I might be able to get a better frame rate if I were to overclock my cpu to at least 5ghz. However, I understand that a all-core 5ghz overclock is unreasonable to expect. So I would like to overclock just the cores Minecraft uses to 5ghz and leave the rest of the cores on default. Does anyone know how many cores Minecraft can utilise? If anyone knows that would be a great help!
Many thanks

I believe that the game can only use one core, so your performance per core will matter more than your multi core performance.
One thing most people forget is the temperature of the CPU's cores. They will clock down at a certain temperature to avoid significant damage. So, if you do overclock the cores, they may or may not truly overclock themselves. Just a heads up.
Thanks, I have a 360mm AIO, and I get temps in the 70s when playing MC, so hopefully won’t be a problem, many thanks!
You should be fine if that 70s are in Fahrenheit. Have fun
1 core for like 95% of things and 1 or 2 others for java garbage collection
Thanks, in that case, I'll probably look to overclock 3 cores to 5ghz and leave the rest at default.
would be better off doing 4 over 3 then setting java to only use those cores, also check for the strong cores you have through ryzen master and work on pushing those instead of just the first few cores
Thanks, I’ll look into that, hopefully I’ll be able to get Minecraft to run as well as possible!
