I hate how minecraft is changing. I like all the new items and stuff but it just doesn't feel like minecraft anymore. I wish also that instead of adding pointless items we didn't need before and MESSING WITH REDSTONE! (I use redstone a lot and the button thing f*cked everything up) I wish that they would work on lag issues and make it so people can run the game really good even if they have an average laptop. I find it stupid adding new sound, anvils, random bosses, etc. Yes it's cool but why add more stuff if we still have tons of bugs and lag issues in game?

As Walrus said, you use what you WANT to use in the game. That's why it's called a sandbox game. If you're not happy with the new updates, HEY, you most likely got your $26 bucks worth outta the game by now, go play something else and shut.... up.

I got minecraft in 1.2 and I dunno about the updates. I like the auto aligning stairs and maybe the new crops, but evil mobs... that's just plain stupid. I may enjoy killing evil cows for 5 minutes but after that I'm done. Sure this stuff may make multiplayer more fun (sneaking up behind people and all that with invisiblity) and challenge maps a bit more interesting (arrow buttons and last updates tripwires) but single player is ruined. It's no fun using an invisibility potion when no ones around but sheep. So, I like half of the stuff for 1.4 but the other half I could do without.

This thread is completely biased. Not everyone thinks the same way, and we see too many of these "Minecraft is getting worse!" "Jeb is doing too much!". Well, some might not think so. And, if you must voice yourself, why don't you do it on another one of these, instead of making a new one? I DID NOT MEAN THAT IN A MEAN WAY.
And yes, he is working hard. Do you know how hard it is to program a game? Hours and hours of restless work. Do you think half of you here can do that? Do you?

i have a 600 dollar laptop and i can run sonic ethers unbelievable shaders with max settings on optifine at about 50 fps lag isnt an issue they patched alot of it in 1.3 and to all you the fools who complain that they dont like the updates dont get them its an optional thing if you already have get a thing called mcnostalgia and if i see one more idiot say get rid of the food bar it makes it less about survival go kill yourself having to eat is a very large point of surviving

Then how the -profanity- are you going to play on servers? No servers try to keep the classic feel of the game. If you actually find a server that is attempting to keep the same original feel of Notch's original Minecraft, then you are lucky.

People i understand why you are kinda mad cause the 'good ol days' were for some people more fun! But i mean: they just want more challenge and stuff in the game: otherways you would only be building and mining... yes i know thats what it is all about but with those extra bits you can set goals for yourself... And if you still hate it after reading this: complaining wont help.. do you really think they then change it all back to beta 1.8? Afcourse not! Some people love the potatos, anvils, carrots, wither etc. If you hate it: dont hate, just install a mod to downgrade your minecraft...

That is a main issue that Jeb has not even attempted to approach. At the moment, if you want to run high settings with a decent texture pack. It can not be on a standard laptop pretty much.

If you ask me, 1.3.1 is the limit for this madness.
I started playing Minecraft in 1.8 or 1.9, in November 2011 at least, and when I try Alpha, I understand why so many people is missing it.
Keep the stuff in 1.3.1, but remove Hunger Bar, and stop the bosses, carrots and potatoes, it's too much for this simple game!

I completely agree. In my opinion Jeb has gone to far in his reign over Minecraft. He has ruined the entire concept of surviving. He adds new things all the time, but do any of the old bugs that annoy the -profanity- out of everyone get fixed? Nope they don't. Jeb needs to stop making Minecraft a Skyrim want-to-be, and work on making it what it was meant to be, a Sandbox game based on survival and building insane structures.
No new monsters.
No new "Beacon blocks"
