Anything X-Ray isn't allowed on Planet Minecraft.
Why you ask? Well , Cyprezz decided that it won't be allowed so as his Moderators , we have to remove them as they are his orders.
Want an X-Ray Pack or X-Ray Mod? Look on the Minecraft Forums , They have plenty!

Well, It appears the Minecraft Forums are willing to allow xray mods or texture packs. However, the will not allow griefing hacks.

Either way, there's no denying that x-ray packs and mods just take the fun out of Minecraft!

and some how x rays arent greifing hacks? people hide there chests for a reason with x ray greifers find them all the time. with a x ray you cant hide anything valuable at all cause greifers see it all.whoever thinks xrays arent hacks are stupid.

depends on what a person would consider hacks to be. i know many people don't honestly know the meaning of hacks or hacking.

personally i feel that xray hacks ruin the game for anyone else.
admin s and mods need to spend so long looking for them
they take all the diamonds so there are none left for normal players to find
on my server i had to go through and add some diamonds because they had all been harvested by xray players. banned them all now

No **** x-ray is bad and for noobs only, but the x-ray texture pack is not as bad as the hack, the texture pack doesn't show all the ores, only those that are in caves, under lava, but still bad to have

Why are they so bad, I mean if you wanted an x-ray texture pack why not just make one. If you upload an x-ray texture pack its just speeding up the process of making one.

The point of it is the fact that PMC doesn't support anything that could be used to cheat in SMP nor unoriginal submissions, an X-ray pack would fall under both.

I made a texture pack where you can look trough glass and monster spawners(there not invisible you can only see the outlines) does that count?

Because Cyprezz, like notch, like me, wish for as many people as possible to enjoy the experience of minecraft, its hard to enjoy when someone is X-ray hacking.

Oh Idk, maybe because then people would spam xray and similar mods just to try and get levels....

ya kno, x ray packs cannot show ores unless they are revealed, all revealed ores of diamond r tipicaly below or just above lava

They can't show ores but they can show chests. However a couple of things.. public servers should be smart enough to incorporate either a container locking plug-in, server back-ups, logblock or all three. And technically everything that doesn't come with MC out-of-the-box is a hack because we have to modify the main file to get them to work.
Spamming mods is another good reason, though people seem to be doing that with the cape mod, and really whatever else is popular.
I am not voting for X-Ray or whatever you want to call it but the servers where stealing would actually damage the experience have safeguards against griefers. Those that don't are either a bunch of friends or they give free equipment anyways.

I call shenanigans!
Now that Notch has given modding the "go ahead" I wouldn't say it's hacking to decompile the .jar, though if you do that's fair enough. Regardless; writing a mod to add a massive death machine that kills everyone periodically is still better than an x-ray pack, because it doesn't give any one player an unfair advantage and then ruin it for all the other players without said advantage.

You know, while I have my own X-Ray texture pack, I don't use it very often. Not only is it cheating (sort of...?), it kinda causes lag, I guess.
So, they can be pretty bad, but they're fun to mess with once in a while.

There is a reason, its valid and explained completely. Why whine, because you can't find it easy now and have to do more work to find a solution? X-ray is for people who can't play the game successfully in non-creative mode. xD

oh stop bickering constantly about it, and so i took the time to stop trying to understand the fabric of time, to tell you all that x-ray packs are a matter of opinion, as are most things,to some they are good and to others they are not. all and all. e.g mining addicts would mine a massive tunnel system and for others who aren't as keen to mine they use the x-rays, pack or mod

That doesn't break the rules though, does it?
The rule against x-ray packs stops people using them on a server to gain an unfair advantage... you can't use that mod in multiplayer, so you can't gain an advantage with it... you want to use it in SSP I don't see a problem, you're not bothering anyone :/
