Post quality content = levels. Mods are possibly the best for XP but they take more time to produce. I've only been here half as long and I'm level 81, which is according to my calculator is 36x the amount of XP as needed to be level 40.
On the flipside skins give the least XP, because trends change so frequently and so many people post them.

Haha, besides that Who's Line Is It Anyway reference, be glad you joined this site. This place has a vast mature community that is very gosh darn friendly! It makes Minecraft look like an evil villain's lair in comparison to PMC! Many people are friendly, kind, and definitely don't bite. The ones that bite are removed quite quickly or negotiated in the most friendly way possible. We don't swear a lot, and we have plenty of contests!
