Yes, go to minecraft.novaskin.me/ and you can edit skins that are pre-made, and make them your own. Easiest and best looking way.
Also, some pointers.... Never use the same flat color. Mix it up a little bit. hair isn't just one color, it's 3-6 shades of the same color
