Router settings? Always a good first place to start when you have connection issues of any kind. There's about a 1000 things that could be set wrong (including parental filters, haha) that could cause connection issues.

All you have to do is make an image that's 64x64 pixels, save it as "server-icon.png" and put it into the root of your MC server.

Yeah even if someone just "did it for you" there's so much more to it. You'd really be doing yourself a great service to carefully read the Pex documentation:

    https://github.com/PEXPlugins/PermissionsEx/wiki

Without reading that, it won't really matter whether someone does it for you or not, because then you'll still be screwed when you need to alter it at some point.

IMO the best bet is to use a MySQL database for it, anyways.

If you have a server running behind a dynamic IP (and it seems you do), then you can use a service like dyndns (http://dyn.com/) to essentially proxy your changable IP to a static one. The setup varies dramatically depending on your system and router, but if you Google a bit and read about it, it's probably not TOO hard.

The alternative is calling your ISP and requesting a static IP. You'll pay a few more bucks a month for it on your service, and they may make to upgrade you business class service depending on the company, but if it's worth it to you to do that, it's not that hard or expensive.

The thing is, the "vanilla" version of the game doesn't need more blocks...there are already hundreds. What would be better is to see the full official modding API come out, with support for server-side mods. That way, server ops could make new blocks as necessary to their versions of the game, rather than sort of "abstract" blocks that we have to somehow work into our existing servers.

Build a server with 100s of players. You'll find hundreds of ways to crash then, haha (although we are good at solving those problems at this point, as well).

Hate to be negative, but I can't stand the kid personally, lol. Maybe it's just the huge age gap, but I don't find his brand of humor funny at all. It's just childish and stupid. But then again, the subs. Obviously it's working out for him, so who am I to judge. If he keeps the 9-year-olds content, then kudos to him.

I'd guess the same. dispatchCommand "Dispatches a command on the server, and executes it if found." Whereas all you really want to do is provide the effect.

Nuclear, this isn't true at all. Just because the modding API will be developed by Mojang internally doesn't mean that when they update said API that plugin developers won't have to update their code each update. It may be true that server ops won't have to wait for *Bukkit* updates any longer, but that unto itself may not be a great thing. Bukkit is a road-tested system that most of us server ops love. It's true that we all hate having to wait for Bukkit updates, but I'm not certain the modding API will be stronger than Bukkit. Time will tell, I guess.

ALWAYS do backups I can vouch for that 500% over the years. But, just take a break. Soon enough you'll feel better, and you'll be ready to create again. It's kind of fun starting over from scratch, sometimes, too. Cheer up, buttercup!

LOL I'd say there's pretty much no contest. Years of development, versus some cheap marketing game? It's like comparing Battlefield to NES Friday the 13th.

Yeah, I don't understand why you'd remove a classic item from the game. Always seems like Mojang likes to mess with things just for the sake of messing with them, which is not a great reason.
