We highly suggest you visit our Minecraft Forum post for more information, including a getting started mini-guide, as well as other discussions and news regarding the mod. This thread may get outdated a tad bit, however, I'll try to keep it up to date. Our Minecraft Forum post is our main thread, and our most checked thread.

Ascension is a new mod which aims to create an immersive, challenging adventure for you to endeavor upon. Heavily inspired by Skyrim, you'll jump into a world battling intimidation monsters, slaying mysterious bosses, looting seemingly innocent structures, ultimately leading up to the recapturing of the five ancient Artifacts.

Are you up for the challenge?

As time and development go on, Ascension aims to create a huge expansive journey, complete with tons of weaponry, challenging monsters, monstrous bosses, intricate dungeons, all alongside an entire optional quest and story line. This is only the beginning of something entirely different.

Since this mod is in its infant stages, not everything is permanent. Also, we have only implemented a small amount of content compared to what we plan on adding (and are currently adding). For a complete list of the entire mod 'outline', check out our Community Document.

-----

- A new boss: The Pharaoh

- Plus many more features!

Upcoming Features in Beta 2: Power of Magic
- New magical weaponry (staffs and armor)
- The Maze Dungeon
- 4 new mobs: Sharks, Goblins, Snow Blazes, and Mini Golems (semi-boss)

Download
All downloads can be found here.

Ascension only relies on Forge 1.7.10, however, if you install Version Checker as well, you will be able to automatically update the mod when a new version is released without navigating to your mods folder!

We also recommend adding Not Enough Items for in-game recipes (recipes are also added on our wiki), Infernal Mobs for a more difficult challenge, and Adventure Backpacks to store all your loot! You are not required to download any of these; these are just mods us developers found to be good compliments to our mod.

Older versions can also be found at the link above. Changelogs can be found here.

Now I've read the files with all the planned features, read the stuff already suggested, and played the mod and I've got a few ideas. Feel free to crush and grind these into the dirt but here goes:
1.Classes or races with unique starter items per class.
2.Maybe skills (would go well with classes)
3.A worship system. Like the more rare items you sacrifice to a certain god the better the loot, and if you find a shrine you can do some evil stuff for some cool loot.
4. villages with more human villagers than the squidward noses. They could have randomly generated names connected to quests.
5.Pets or followers. With all the mobs out at night getting supplies can be hard. Im sure a few lonely animals have had their parents eaten, or that mummy had a friendly little cat wrapped up with him. Maybe even have a chance of some of the weaker mobs drop eggs to grow your own friend.
Bonus: Who or what is Crabaikan (did i spell that right?) He was listed as a nether boss but I didn't see any description. I'd love to fight a giant crab or fish living in the lava! Hey, theres a nother suggestion!

Thanks for the suggestions :)! I really appreciate it. Anyways, here are my thoughts:

1) I'm sort of borderline on classes - in some cases, it may be a nice addition, but in others, it could be over-doing it. In the end, I'll probably make a poll on the MCF post in the future as to whether or not this is a viable addition.

2) Skills are definitely something I'd like to incorporate, although, it would probably be on the more basic side of things. Anyways, both these, and classes (if they were to be implemented), would be a ways away, most likely when all the content has been added (at least to a point where our dimension has been added)

3) This would probably be better suited for an update after we are fully released, so I won't think too much about it now.

4) Improving and adding depth to the Overworld is one of our main goals, and this could be a very nice tweak/addition.

5) I kind of figured someone would suggest this. I would need to think of a way to implement this in a fair, non-overpowering way if I wanted to do something like this.

As for Cabrakan, he is a boss to say the least. I haven't planned much out for him yet, so what he looks like and resembles is still unknown. As for something living in the lava, I would think it would be hard to come into contact with a mob like this, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

What I would do iif it is just a mob would be just set it to where the mob doesn't take damage from the lava, but can swim through it. Maybe have it shoot fireballs like the ghast, or have a spout of flame particles shoot from it's mouth to the player.Could be a chance to add an ice based bow or enchantent to do more damage against nether entities as well as giving slowness to non nether entities. IF you decided to make Cabrakan a creature that swims in lava AND use my idea then you should make it a two or three part battle: 1. He's slow moving, high defense, barely attacking but would leave you on fire for quite some time, and obsidian or netherbrick colored. After he takes enough damage he moves to the lava (or melts into lava. could have him leave a trail of the lava or fire like the snowman leave snow.) and starts to swim while throwing projectile towards the player. After he takes enough damage he would hop out, this time being Lava-like and fast, throwing quick and painful attacks that would light the player on fire, and damage whatever he was wearing an extra little bit. If you make him something like a Giant Demonic Golem, after killing him you could get an Infernal Golem Core to make a better version of the golem armor that would protect you from lava and fire for a short time (Or indefinitely if you cant make it timed, I don't know much about the mod making process so I don't know if any of this is possible.)

The cool thing about programming in general is pretty much anything is possible.

I like this idea in general. Cabrakan will most likely be similar to the Pharaoh in a sense you'll find him in a Nether generating structure. However, in the future, another boss in the future could "perform" like you described. Having a boss that is dynamic adds a lot of depth to the mob, and mod itself, and is something I am definitely looking into in general for the mod.

Overall, awesome suggestion. If you've got anymore, or any others pertaining to this one, let me know :).

Thanks! Im going to be testing out a bunch of mods this weekend and i love this mod, Although I have noticed that the golem's arms don't move when he gets attacked, but his shoulder do. I forgot to add one suggestion I did have. If you have a storyline for the mod during late production I think it would add a level of immersion not many mods can bring to the table. If you have ever played the Lord of the rings mod (Same guy that made the lion king mod) then I suggest something along the lines of that. Different biomes could be provinces for the different kingdoms. Reputation could be gained by doing quests for the villages in their respective kingdom, or just have each village have a randomly generated name and their biome is their kingdom. Small skirmishes between kingdoms or guards fighting off the braver monsters would be found on the outskirts, but besides that the biome would be relatively safe unless you start killing people.

Glad you took the time to review it ;). It definitely helped gauge a couple things as to what needs to be worked on.
