Checkpoints Backup mod!

Mod is renamed to "Checkpoints Backup mod", to prevent confusion with "Checkpoints mod" which adds some flag blocks.

Please use the full name in videos.

1.5.1 version

Install into minecraft.jar


What it can do?

  • Save checkpoints (snapshots) of your world.
  • Go back in time - if you die, load checkpoint.
  • Infinite amount of checkpoints available.
  • You can overwrite existing checkpoints if you want.
  • You can easily delete checkpoints.
  • When you delete world, all it's checkpoints are deleted automatically.
  • Complete world is stored, including all dimensions and inventory.

NOTE:
It is called "checkpoints", but "snapshots" would me more adequate.
It doesn't only save your location, but the whole world, including player, mobs etc.


What's most useful?

  • If you die on Hardcore, you can restore world from checkpoint.
  • If you die in normal survival, you can avoid the danger next time.
  • In adventure maps, you can save locations and if you screw something up, simply restore the game from checkpoint.
  • Perfect for exploration of dangerous areas (caves, ender, nether).
  • If you find some monsters in a cave and they kill you, load checkpoint, get better sword and take your revenge.

Where are snapshots saved?

.minecraft/saves/Your World/checkpoints/YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS!Checkpoint name

It is really safe, but if you want even better safety, backup these snapshots sometimes.

They don't use any special format, so if your world folder gets corrupted (or world folder deleted), you can place your backed up snapshots into "saves" folder in minecraft and use them as normal world.

It will not work if you update because it makes another clean minecraft.jar file that is clean and uses that one.

Would this be compatible with the current version of the Aether? It is on 1.2.5, but I'd like to make sure before I get it, because this would be AMAZING. I usually just copy and paste my save file for the Aether before I go on some dangerous trip like doing a boss or some gravitite collecting.

often when you log in with this mod redstone clocks get stuck and you have to reset them...

can you fix?

its not a bug with the MOD itself, sometimes ModLoader's tick override things don't work out the way it should with old worlds.

Yeah, so I went to test this mod, seeing how I saw the mod for the backpack and it wouldn't work without Minecraft Forge... And last time I tried to install it, it didn't work for me... So thought I'd skip it for now and trying this mod led to... A couple of hours not worrying if I die or not thanks to it. It works very well, plus using it with Rei's Mini map to make waypoints of caves I find and take out Mutant Creepers, then hope I don't kill my own cat with a throwing knife like I did last time or destroy the mutant creeper egg over and over again trying to hit something, or maybe even finding some more redstone... Anyways, thanks for the awesome-ness! It's a very wonderful mod and you are a GREAT modder!

This is great. Before, I always saved my world to my desktop. And then if i did something wrong I would have to find minecraft.jar, delete the current folder, then find the old folder folder and copy it, then go back to minecraft.jar and then paste. I would also have to exit the world before I "un-did" it. It was a hassle. Now, I just need to press a couple buttons, and I don't even have to leave the world!

That was a hyperbole, I was just trying to say that this mod can't possibly make your game slower. You either have a computer problem, or you're lying because you just don't like this mod.

Here, how about you tell me in the coding of this mod where it says "slow down Minecraft" or "use up 99% of Minecraft's memory"

This mod can't make any trouble unless you have the ingame menu opened (it won't even execute until you open the menu), so you are either lying, or you have some other mod problem.

you're world doesn't get deleted... you just restart from a checkpoint. Think about it this way, have you ever played a game where you try to do a quest, but then you fail. You start back from a checkpoint and go on with another quest or mission or whatever.
