Metamorph (from Metamorphosis) – a Minecraft mod for 1.10.2 (build for 1.9.4 is available), which allow players to morph into different vanilla mobs. Heavily inspired by iChun's Morph mod and zacuke's Shape Shifter Z mod.

How to play
To morph into other creature, you must to acquire a morph first. To acquire a morph, you have to kill a mob, then a ghost of this mob will appear (that's a morph), and when you'll pick it up, you'll acquire a morph. Only vanilla* mobs have their own morphs.

Once you have at least one morph, you're able to transform into that morph. Use "[" and "]" keys for advancing through the list of morphs. Use "enter" key for transforming into selected morph.

You retain your morphs even after death. In creative, you can select any available morph via "Creative Morph Menu" which can be opened by pressing "B" key in the game.

The outer look of morphs are quite limited, so you cannot kill a child pink sheep and turn into a child pink sheep. Instead, you'll turn into a white adult sheep.

About morphs
Every morph you equip or apply grant you different look, size, and health capacity. Except those properties, every morph also has special abilities, attack and action.

Abilities give special properties to morphs. Chicken morph will slowly fall and get no fall damage. Spider and CaveSpider morphs will be able to climb on the wall. Bat morph will be able to fly and has a night vision.

Attack is an effect which is applied onto attacked entity. For example, if you hit some entity while being in CaveSpider morph, your target will gain poison potion effect. If you'll hit an entity while being in VillagerGolem morph, you'll throw your target high in the air.

Action is a special ability that is triggered by "action key" (which is "V" by default). Examples: in Rabbit morph, you'll jump high; in Creeper morph, you'll explode like a creeper, and so on.

Hello, once again, my friend!
I was scrolling down the comment section and saw your reply.
Regarding about what you said, I do in fact agree that coding the laser beam ability is hard, I am not going to convince you to add it.
It was just a suggestion anyway.

Oh and Thanks for working hard, I really appreciate your hard work you're doing to make us happy!

I am at least hoping for the idea of 'neutral mobs' to be accepted.

And I believe you need to add the ability to morph to a snowman (mob of course) with it's own special ability to shoot snowballs.
It could have been fun if you would add the idea!

About ocelots, It should have speed II and have 10 hearts but with a softer skin.
What I basically mean is that , you will take more damage than a normal player would.

Edit: I just realised that snowman is already added, but let's hope that we can shoot snowballs and whenever you walk, snow would appear.

There's a 1.11 build, but I'm unsure if it's works with 1.11.2. You can try it out, and let us know if it's works :)
But, it seems that 1.11.2 forge is currently in early stages, so it might be unstable for now.

Hello there, McHorse

I would like to give you some feedback and of course some ideas.

I would like to start by saying that the mod you've made is perfect, and I absolutely loved it.

Regarding your abilities in your mod, I would say that they are great but I have a few constructive criticism

For Example:

The Guardian: The Guardian is a pretty great mob in my opinion. And I realise that you gave the morph the abilities, to swim , to breath underwater, But I would also like to say that you should add 1 ability that you have missed. It's called Laserbeam. If you would do that The mod would have shined.

The Squid: The Squid is perfect mob, and it's neutral. And of course same as "The Guardian" you gave the morph the abilities. But I realised that when you're a squid and you go out of the water, You don't start drowning or something. Maybe fixing that would have been such a great idea, and you should lower the speed of the Squid, We just can't get control over it.

I would like to also point out that when you're a (Sheep,Cow) or any neutral mob, you do get attacked.

I am not irritated about it, but I think it would have been great.

About Guardian, yes, my friend have acknowledged of that, but I forgot and, to be honest, I haven't played Minecraft beyond building my base, so I'm little acknowledged of some Minecraft features. Thanks for reminding me, though. I'll add this ability in the next update.

I agree that swimming ability is not very mobile, I'll rework swimming ability too.

Good point about neutral mobs :D

Status update. I couldn't implement laser ability, because it's too hard, and I also run out of energy while doing this update. I think this laser ability would be quite OP, due to the fact that you could auto target entity and simply wait for it to die (If I got correctly how does it works).

I think update will be ready on the next week. I finished almost everything, everything works fine. I'll polish some things and it would be ready :)

Well, it's will came out as soon as I finish working on it. Currently I have lots of issues which I have to fix, but the basic mob morph is already works (thanks to tips from iChun). Plus some new suggestions may be added in the future.

I moved this update for too long. I hope to finish this update in following 4 days, but I don't promise anything. Unexpected things may arise.

Can't wait until mod support is added ^^ Also I had a suggestion? Whenever any of the players on my server are morphed as a hostile mob, the console gets flooded with:
"[mchorse.metamorph.api.morph.MorphHandler:onLivingSetAttackTarget:167]: Reseting attacker for EntityPlayerMP['Username'/2069, l='world', x=-2457.72, y=61.10, z=-1775.39]"
While I know this is because they are near hostile mobs and this is telling them not to attack them on sight, is there a way to disable this message?

Yes, I think it's a debug message which I forgot to remove. The problem that I can't fix it, because I forgot to setup my development in another branch, thus disallowing me to do patches while having an ability to continue the development of the mod. So... you'll have to wait for the next release :(

Although I might make a patch, but only when I'll finish working on what I'm currently working on (tomorrow or later). Nice server, by the way, if I'll have time I might join in to play :D

Could you change "MetaMorph" to "Metamorph"? It's quite annoying when the name of my mods are getting distorted. Sorry for being pricky :D

Well, iChun announced some time ago that he's working on updates for his mods, including upgrading Morph to 1.10.2. His problem, however, is the lack of time. Btw, I'm not trying to compete with iChun. I'm working on this mod to power morphing functionality for my machinima maker mod called Blockbuster. It's a very crucial feature to have in Blockbuster, so integration (between Metamorph and Blockbuster) is coming up very soon :)

Looks like doesnt work in multiplayer, seems like needs the server side proxy class.
(running on linux centosx64, oracle java 8.111, forge 1.10.2 - 12.18.2.2099)

Was this inspired by iChun's Morph mod? Also, when boss mob morphs are implemented, some abilities should be removed, such as the blue wither skulls' ability to destroy obsidian when acquiring the wither morph.

Well, the basic idea is inspired by iChun's Morph mod. Boss morphs are going to be implemented in the next update. Is there an ability in Morph's mod to destroy obsidian? I'm not quite understand your last sentence, could you explain, please? :)

That ability isn't in that mod. I was talking about the actual wither's ability to shoot blue wither skulls that destroy obsidian. That ability, if it is implemented into this mod, should be removed when the wither is acquired as a morph, due to how overpowered it would be.

Fish? Which fish? In vanilla, there's no fish mod. There's guardian and squid, however.

My bad. All this time I didn't realize the ShapeShifter 1.3.2 fish was a mod-mob & not a vanilla-mob.

Some things to note are
Gameplay:
Flying does not seem to use hunger, so if you morph into a flying mob, you can basically go everywhere without getting hungry. Makes most forms of transportation largely redundant.
The guardian morph does not improve your underwater vision, making it worse then a squid for water exploration. The guardian also does not seem to have any 'actions'
A ghost apparently never despawns, and every mob you killed drops a ghost.
Some morphs seems to have no use at all(most passive animals), or worse than not morphing at all(zombies and skeletons)

Interface:
It's rather hard to not get a morph when you kill something, so your morph list tends to have morphs you don't want between morphs you do want, which makes it somewhat annoying to go through,
Selecting a morph does not close the morph list. Instead, it hovers annoyingly in your face for quite some time before going away. It would be really nice if selecting a morph closed the list, or if there was at the very least a close list button.

Thanks for feedback! Definitely going to improve the mod based on the user input. I don't really have the time for Metamorph right now, since I'm working on updating another mod of mine. I'll start working on Metamorph update, that improve mod according to user feedback, on the next or week after the next week.

You need to choose yourself in the survival morphing GUI using the default "[" key (or previous morph key in settings) all the way, and then press "enter" (see the second screenshot after Metamorph banner). Yes, it's unfinished mod, I've got some ideas for further updates.

I would love to make a server one day. We are trying to get cable lines down our road, but this will probably take 3 years (they said they would run it for $22,000. Or we could get DSL, but the Internet company said "Sorry, our DSL spots are full.")

I will probably rent a VPS if I have a DSL(Uses phone line, yet faster than dial-up) line run to my house. I prefer the control of my own ported server though, no cost to pay, but I would need powerful internet(ex cable).

I just wanted to let you know that iChun IS updating the original Morph Mod, along with all of his others. He was just on a bit of a hiatus, and is back to updating now. I just thought you may like to know since the mods seem very similar.

I do know about that since he posted announcement a day before release of Metamorph. By the way, he gave me a shout out on Twitter (he retweeted my tweet with link to this page). This was really nice of him :)

But as I told earlier in the comments I'll go in the other direction. Something like Lucky Block with morphs.

You should change the fact that if you kill the same mob a second time, the shadow does not appear, whereas if someone else does after you killed the saame mod, the shadow appear and only him can take it.

I'm not trying to copy Morph completely. As I wrote below in comments, I would like to go a little bit different way. By the way, iChun announced, a day before release of Metamorph, that he is already working (that's how I understand) on or planning to update Morph for 1.10.2.
