Wolf Guardian Block
1.3 for MC 1.2.3

To make it clear
This mod can be EITHER force field engine, OR wolf block.
You can't have both at the same time.

This mod has been created on request, but it doesn't mean it's bad. It is the follower of my previous request mod, the Force Field Engine.

Features
  • Wolf Block barks on its own
  • Barks during day and howls at night when left-clicked
  • Attacks monsters in a range
  • Growls when some animal / monster near it is detected, and attacked
  • Right click = check targets
  • Sneak + right click = change attack targets
  • More Wolf blocks = stronger attack
  • Range is determined by the block UNDER wolf block.
    Column of wolf blocks share the same range.
  • Guards even if you are far away from it, this was improved.

Range
Range is the action radius. 10 = 20x20x20 cube around it.
Block under wolf
  • Dirt, sand, gravel = 14 blocks
  • Stone, cobble, netherrack = 20 blocks.
  • Obsidian = 40 blocks
  • Diamond block = 80 blocks - long range protection, for mines and caves
  • other materials = 3 - good for grinders

Force Field Engine mod was removed.
However, this mod can easily replace it's functions and appearance.

How to change this into Force Field Engine
  1. Install this mod, run and close minecraft.
  2. Open .minecraft / config / wolf.properties
  3. Change properties to:

    BlockName=Force Field Engine
    ID=148
    block_glows=Yes
    kill_only_standard_monsters=No
    spawn_blue_particles=Yes
    use_forceField_texture=Yes
     
  4. Close the file
In Force Field Engine mode, this recipe is used:
Stone, Glowstone Dust, Redstone
 S  G  S 
 G  R G 
 S  G  S 



Installation
  • You need ModLoader.
  • The ZIP file of this mod is to be placed into .minecraft/mods folder.
Check out the properties file.
You can customize the block, which is really useful.
To prevent attacking clay soldiers, set "kill_only_standard_monsters" to yes

NAME and ID can be changed in the property file in .minecraft/config

I think instead of stone, it should be iron. I do like the wolf one,considering that brown wool is hard to come by.

hahaha, good stuff, but I'll stick with the force field generator.  though I like the idea of an adjustable range base on the block beneath, add that to the Force Field Generator mod and I'd be a happy camper

I will add a property file entry that will determine if it is shown as a wolf block, or the old force field engine. Also, the particles will be toggleable, and force field engine won't bark, of course.
