Project for the Nether Empire Contest..
Back Story:
'The Natives' (as they are known as) once occupied this Nether Wasteland, and after digging into Stone Mountain they discovered a rare material known as Quartz, which if they got enough of, would be able to transport them out of the Nether..
Many years past and The Natives were still gathering the same amount of Quartz as they were when they first discovered Stone Mountain. However upon discovering a hidden cave in the mountain, one of The Natives found the mysterious 'Nether Wart'. Little was known about this fungus, but it was thought extinct.. It was taken for further analysis.
Unfortunately, what The Natives didn't know was that The Nether Wart had an unknown property which put their whole species at risk.. The Nether Wart excreted a type of pheromone which attracted the deadly Ghasts to the Mountain, which by now had been completely converted into a fully working mine. The Netherrack which surrounded the Nether Wart before it was discovered, prevented the pheromone from escaping, which is why Ghasts were not already at the Mountain..
Upon discovering the deadly property of the Nether Wart, The Natives were too late. Ghasts had blown their way in through the roof of the mountain and were destroying the Quartz Mine, and The Natives who were in it at the time. No one barely made it out, and if they did it wasn't without serious injury.
The almost hollowed out and destroyed Stone Mountain was left and The Natives fled across The Nether to find another strong source of Quartz, and they haven't been seen since.
But there's one thing for sure, Quartz still remains in Stone Mountain, and if Steve somehow comes across the Mountain, he might be able to extract enough of it, so that he can leave the Nether Empire!
