This is a new map that makes part of Uncovering Rocks, a project that it´s main goal is to build the models of the 5 existing archeological zones in central Mexico that were once, palaces.
What is Chimalhuacan? Chimalhuacan is an archeological zone in the valley of Mexico, it is located within the community of the same name. The archeological zone contains the ruins of what it was once a wealthy palace in the city of Chimalhuacan, destroyed in the XVI century by the spaniards.
History of Chimalhuacan: Chimalhuacan was founded by 3 chief brothers: Huaxómatl, Chalchuitlatonac and Tlatzcatecuhtli, coming from Texcoco, a manor led by the Alcohuas.
The first settlements were located in "el tepalcate", which was on the shores of Lake Texcoco. Later, due to the rains, this site was flooded and conditions forced the inhabitants of the municipality to move to the shores of the hill called: "Chimalhuachi".
In 1431, Chimalhuacan was part of the 15 manors that belonged to the Alcolhua Kingdom. After the union with the Alcolhua kingdom, Chimalhuacán became involved in some important events in the history of Mexico.
Chimalhuacan was part of the Triple Alliance made up of the lordships of Texcoco, Tenochtitlán and Tacuba.
