The Gellért Hill in Budapest, recreated 1:1 scale within the BTE Project!

Gellért Hill (Hungarian: Gellért-hegy; German: Blocksberg; Latin: Mons Sancti Gerhardi Turkish: Gürz İlyas Bayırı) is a 235 m (771 ft) high hill overlooking the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It is located in the 1st and the 11th districts. The hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to death from the hill. The famous Hotel Gellért and the Gellért Baths can be found in Gellért Square at the foot of the hill, next to Liberty Bridge.

The Gellért Hill Cave is also located on the hill, facing the hotel and the Danube. The hill itself is bordered by two bridges from the Danube side, the Elisabeth Bridge and the Liberty Bridge. At the foot of the hill, near the Elisabeth Bridge, the Rudas thermal bath can be found, including an old turkish bathhouse, and the Romkert disco. The old plane tree at the foot of the Elisabeth bridge is over 120 years old, having stood there back when the original bridge was built in 1903, and surviving the destruction of the bridge during the war.

At the top of the hill, the Citadella (English: citadel) can be found with a nice panoramic view of the city. The fortress was built in 1851 by Julius Jacob von Haynau, a commander of the Austrian Empire, and was designed by Emmanuel Zitta and Ferenc Kasselik, after the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. It occupies almost the entire 235 metres high plateau. The fortress is a U-shaped structure built about a central courtyard, being 220 metres long, 60 metres wide, and 4 metres tall. It had a complement of sixty cannons. Throughout history, numerous attemtps were amde to demolish it, but when realizing the amount of debris it would require to move down the hill, these efforts were abandoned. Marks of where the demoolishing started can still be found on the building. Later it functioned as a hotel and as a restaurant as well It is currently closed due to renovation, and it will be transformed into a park.

The recreation is as accurate as possible, with the citadel preserved in its 2013 state (as it is being renovated/transformed currently). Most of the trees in the build are accurate and comparable to reality. All paths on the mountain are accessible by foot and accurate to real life. Basically... insane amount of attention and detail went into every aspect of this build.

Holy cow, this was an absolute beast to build! Over 50,000,000 blocks, 2,000 trees, 150 lampposts, etc... 1 year 5 months of work! I need a break now...

One thing you did here is something essential to any build, which is the gradient on the walls of the Citadella. This helps to get a very realistic look. Something similar was used by The Floo Network on the walls of Hogwarts. Good job. Many builders still choose to put a noisy mix of blocks on their walls, which doesn't look as natural.

The only thing I fail to understand is the obvious reasons for no download. Not that I have a problem with it - in fact, most of my submissions have no download either - but this makes it seem like it's because of it being a BTE project. Considering BTE is possibly the most cooperative project ever, and its success relies heavily on the support of as many builders as possible, it just seems kind of strange. Not that I'm trying to sneakily get a download for it (although it is a beautiful build) - I'm just curious to hear the reasoning behind this. Take care.

While I built it, I am not allowed to give out a download for it and I honestly think I wouldnt even if I could. A lot of minecraft work is stolen, so firstly this prevents that from happening. Secondly, the only BTE worlds that are available for download are the ones on patreon, which give us funding to keep the servers running. Finally, I'm sure many huge minecraft projects also dotónt give out schems and such.

And to be honest, the whole thing is so big, that the server is unable to make a schem out of it. I had to make 4 and merge it for the render. And giving out the world file returns us to the first part of the reply.

And keep in mind, that every server is free to visit so you can check out the works in person yourself, there is nothing forbidding that :D
