This church is the protestant main church of Rüsselsheim am Main, Germany. In the city center another major church is located farther away from this one, St.Georg the Catholic main church.
This church here was mentioned first in 1514, but back then it was a tiny chapel in gothic style. 1534 it burned down. 1594 another church was built in late gothic style, larger and with a high steeple however this one was demolished in 1790 as it was decided to build a larger church in the taste of the time. 1791 this church was built, and 1793 finished. The tower was much shorter back then, and was later extended with one more floor to reach its current hight of circa 40 meters.
The church was damaged during the English-Canadian air raids on Rüsselsheim am Main, later rebuilt and today has its appearance like it used to look 100 years ago, although the rest of the city resembles a mess of modernistic fantasies.
It is located on Frankfurter Straße/Marktstraße
41 Meters tall.
