Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving if you guys celebrate that. I hope you guys love this build, because it is very special to me. Anyway, enough with the mutual hogwash, on with the history. The Huey P. Long and O.K. Allen Bridge was built in 1940, to accommodate vehicular travel for US 190 eastbound and westbound. It was also built to accommodate rail travel for Kansas City Southern Railway across the Mississippi River. Governor Huey Long was dead for five years before the bridge was built under the administration of Governor Oscar K. Allen. The bridge was the only way to get across river, until 1968 when the Horace Wilkinson Bridge was built to accommodate vehicular travel for I-10 across the river.
