So far my this is my magnum opus of trains that are in my little collection, today I present to you the 700 series Shinkansen.


The 700 series shinkansen was designed in the 1990s for operation of the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. Their most distinctive feature is their "duck-bill" nose which was designed to reduced the piston effect when entering and exiting tunnels at high speed, which was a significant issue with early Shinkansen trains and even caused trains to send out sonic booms which damaged property surrounding train lines. The 700 series is set to be retired at the end of 2019 of the Tokaido Shinkansen.
