Jyotiba Temple is a holy site of Hinduism near Wadi Ratnagiri in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra state in western India. The deity of the temple is Jyotiba, who is believed to be an incarnation of three gods: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The temple is situated at a height of 3124 feet above sea level and attracts lakhs of devotees every year, especially during the annual fair on the full moon night of the Hindu months of Chaitra and Vaishakha¹.

The history of Jyotiba Temple dates back to the ancient times, when the region was ruled by the demon king Kolhasura, who oppressed the people and the gods. Goddess Mahalakshmi, who resided in Kolhapur, decided to fight against the evil forces and sought the help of the supreme trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. They agreed to assist her and merged into a single flame, which took the form of a child with four arms, holding a sword, a drum, a trident and a pot of nectar. This child was Jyotiba, who was also known as Kedareshwar, as he established twelve Jyotirlingas around the mountain where he resided².

Jyotiba fought with Kolhasura and his army and defeated them with his divine powers. He also killed two other demons, Raktabhoja and Ratnasura, who were terrorizing the region. He then established his kingdom on the mountain and became the protector of the people and the gods. He also helped Goddess Mahalakshmi in her various forms and manifestations. He is considered to be a part of the Nath sect, which is a tradition of ascetic yogis³.
