Welcome to a new project series I want to call Marine Quick Tips, based around a some basic, to advanced tips on various structures and themes. Every week I will make a post about a building, structure, theme or place that I have built. Im deciding on whether or not I should have an advanced and a basic category for each week. Its up to you guys, this also isnt a tutorial, but a walkthrough and talk about the builds. However any structure requested for, I will do a tutorial. I may also start up my YouTube channel once again if these threads and my builds get more popular.

This weeks structure and theme is a medieval mine! Yes the infamous death trap of the time period. Mines are dark and dreary places in which poor peasants enter a deep and musty cave to dig out rocks for some fool who wants a shiny new necklace.

Mines should always have some sort of seperation from the town, so children and robbers dont go in there unwantedly. For this is suggest a simple cobble wall, with wooden log supports. Add some nice decals such as steps and fence posts to act as jagged rocks or points. This gives the viewer a feel of danger from entering.

A mine is only as good as the place its been settled. Dont just slap a mine in the middle of a wall, or on a hill, find a good place for it. If you see a natural cave, work around that and add some man made caves. Also, work your paths around the terrain, or add supported walk ramps for a nice rocky effect. Make sure to remove the grass, as miners will tear it up to look for what they came for. Once again, add jagged rocks and stairs around the paths to keep people going in one direction.

The entrence to most mines are very scetchy and scary looking, stick some supports around the cave entrences to give a sense of saftey for the workers. Add the occasional staircase, or fence post to give extra supports making sure no one is crushed by a rock. In large mines, there are multiple caves, with multiple purposes. One might be for foot miners, while another is minecarts full of gems. Be sure to work some mine cart tracks and platforms to move around rocks.

Cranes are a huge part of mines. No man can carry 500 pounds of pure stone, be sure to have a large crane, or even a few small ones around your mine. Double check it has a use though, dont have a crane with no real purpose, have a mine cart stop for  the crane to pick up rocks from it. Then maybe a dump container for the crane to drop the rocks.

Sifters are a huge part of mining, I personally have a large Sand and Gravel center in my lcoal big city of Boston, and the whole point of it is to sift out sand and gravel from rocks. Have a small tube, or ramp type thing for rocks to be tossed down and sifted out with iron bars under it. Then make sure they drop down into some minecarts, which can then be brought to a drop off point, or a crane pickup station.

To put the cherry on tops, add a few vines, and rocks. Scatters grass blocks as well as gravel. Make the mine messy, add a chest or two. Maybe even a miners station where people cant relax and take a smoke break. My mine as you can see uses most of these tips, however could have more. Add your own ideas, look up a picture of a mine and see what is needed. Youre build is only as imaginitive as you.

Thanks for reading this whole thing if you did, hope this series can make a tip top spot on my account. I would allow a download for this mine, but it is on my personal world of Nortalia. However every post that gets 10 diamonds will be awarded with an MC schematic.
