The L70 with the Exterior. First late model of a navy airship i built
About the L70
The L70 was the Peak of German Airships. It was the biggest Naval airship EVER. It had 7 engines : one in the main Gondola, in each engine gondola one and 2 in the Back engine Gondola(Zwischengondel). It had a black Camoflage, but the First and last Attack on England was during the Day. Together with the L53(LZ100), L56(LZ102), L63(LZ110) and the L65(LZ111) it tried to attack England from a route over north-scotland. Peter Strasser, the boss of the airships, was on board of the L70. They drove(yeah drove not flought) at an altitude of 5000 meters, and still got spotted in the bright sun. It was 18:30 when the were 48km away from the coast when 2 Airco D.H.4 started to destroy the airships. One of the was flew by egbert cadbury and robert leckie as gunner. The L70 was on the front of the Formation and Leckie shot the full Magazine of incendiary munition into the L70, wich started burning and crashed into the sea. The other airships turned and escaped by putting all the ballast out and ascending as fast as possible. They didnt know if Peter Strasser Survived, even though it would be impossible to escape. When Officers came to a meeting in germany, they just stood there and said nothing, until someone asked : Strasser? and another officer just nod. Everone took their Hat off and mourned about the death of their boss.
