Lore: Once upon a time, a massive meteor collided with the planet known as "Glorx" and completely destroyed the surface and the atmosphere, leaving it unsafe for any species to live in. What used to be a lush, green planet was now a bunch of stony mountains and pools of lava.
  The alien civilization was able to flee the planet before the meteors hit, however after nearly 2 centuries in space they had begun to run out of food, and Glorx was the only planet nearby that they could possibly survive in. Not knowing whether the planet would be safe or not, they took their chances and descended into the mountainous terrain, just to find that the air was still not safe to breathe. The aliens believed that the end was near; they had no place to live, no fuel left, and no food. But, they did not give up. With special space suits, the aliens roamed around the desolate planet of Glorx with hopes of finding something, anything.
  One day, a group of aliens were exploring a cave deep beneath a mountain, when they found a single melon. Finally, the aliens had some hope. They brought the melon to their on-ship lab where they were able to grow more melons. Within a few months, they were able to establish a small community inside of a dome outside of the ships. From there, they were able to build a power station powered by melons, a melon farm, and a hangar for their spaceships.
  Once their species began to expand they needed to make a larger city, and so they built a huge dome over the first city, and connected the city to the farm and the power station with insulated tunnels so that workers would no longer need to travel into the dangerous environment. Because they feared running out of food again, they began stocking up on melons. Now, they treat the melons as some sort of a God; they worship the melons every day, and they seem to have a spiritual connection with the melons.

Hi, this is my first contest on PMC, and my first upload! I began this contest with the idea of making some sort of dome civilization, but I didn't exactly know what I would make or how. I started to play around with worldedit, and I made some spheres, ellipsoids, and some other shapes that could resemble an alien building. Then I came up with the idea of making a large egg thing that would sit in the middle of everything else. Eventually, this became a hollow ellipsoid, and I began to base some of my other buildings around this one large oval. I was deciding what to do with the inside, and with the organic theme in mind I put some melons inside of one of the buildings, and it sort of just developed from there, into a city full of melons and green buildings.

I would like to thank my friend Ryer for helping me out with the render and also for telling me about this contest in the first place. Ryer also has an entry in this contest, and it is amazing! Maybe someday I will be able to render like that... someday.
