Hey everyone, I've been working on a project server called Oakencraft. I feel that it is pretty unique so I decided to start a project page for it! I'll start off by talking about the map.
Map
The main idea behind the map is to allow for a very large custom world (this particular one is 5000x5000 blocks) to have custom resource generation for ores, change what types of caves and chasms spawn, and what types of tree's are in the initial world. The point of this is to allow for the factions or nations of the server control certain resources. Making it essential to use diplomacy or war to acquire the resources you need. Also it will cause trade between players as resources are much more rare and more difficult to get.
Server Interaction
When you initially join the server, you spawn in the "hub" world. This will be where all the various maps of the server eventually connect. The main point of separating the spawn from the main world is to:
1. Protect it without having to change anything in the main world
2. Allow various worlds to connect to it without favoring one or the other
3. Create a safe zone for trade where players from any world can go to.
Another somewhat larger reason for separating the spawn from the main worlds is to make travel to the hub somewhat difficult. The plan right now to allow players to return to the hub is to use MV(Multiverse) portals at the edge of each custom built world that automatically take the player to the edge of the hub world. I'm not sure about this idea but this is all a work in progress.
