The R.N. Vittorio Veneto was an Italian battleship of the Littorio-class. She was launched in July of 1937 and commissioned in spring of 1940. She served together with her sisterships Roma and Littorio in the Mediterranean theater of the Second World War primarily carrying out missions against the British Royal Navy. After the Armistice of Cassabile when Italy split between the Mussolini's Social Republic puppet state and the Kingdom of Italy, Vittorio Veneto and her sisters, Roma and Littorio (now renamed Italia), were ordered to set sail for Malta together with the majority of the Italian fleet for internment until the end of the War. After several german bombing raids on the fleet dropping radio-guided bombs, her sistership Roma was sunk, and Italia was heavily damaged. After the end of the War Vittorio Veneto served until 1948 where she was decomissioned, and later scrapped in La Spezia in 1952 together with Italia.
