For as long as I can remember, I have been trying (and failing) to build a castle in Minecraft. And by castle, I don't mean "mansion" (like this recent project), but an actual fortified stronghold. Not only does a castle fit the general "feel" of Minecraft, it is also very useful in that it provides protection (and therefore peace of mind) as long as you're inside. And with that, the two main criteria that make for a good build idea in my opinion were met. The only problem left was the one I usually encounter at that point: how to build the castle in a way that is realistically attainable in a survival game without making any major compromises regarding the initial concept.

Luckily, I came up with this Desert Monastery not too long ago, and as I teased in the description, I realized its potential to be rebuilt into a castle right away. After struggling with the battlements for a few days, I finally settled on the design you see in the pictures, and the rest was a piece of cake to build and decorate. All I had to do was change the vibe to suit the different setting. That being said, there's no reason why you can't build this anywhere you want (including the desert). You wouldn't even have to change the style, necessarily. But personally, what I wanted was a castle that would be perfect for a colder biome – a cozy place to hunker down in during a snow storm.

Please feel free to use my designs anywhere you want. However, please don't publicly pass them off as your own by using them in a video or re-uploading them to your profile without providing a link to the original project. Thank you.
