Performance Analogue: Movement style and sound similar to land speed record vehicles such as Thrust SSV, but capable of mediocre turn rates. Some hovercraft-esque "skidding" on high speed turns as jets fight to keep leading edge above the water to avoid a catastrophic capsize.

BACKGROUND

A very recent addition to the Iyectan fleet, the Scorpion-class was designed to both consolidate and extend Iyecte's territory in the overworld. After the defeat of the ITS, many Iyectan POW's unified to create a new nation from the ashes of Minecraftia. Occupying the area formerly owned by Al'Thyr for its similarity to their home climate, they set out to establish a perimeter with the meagre starting resources available, and a key step was the creation of a naval patrol fleet.

A key problem in the creation of the fleet was a lack of materials to build large amounts of vessels, so research was made into ways to build much faster ships as to cover enough area, leading to each Scorpion-class being propelled by two robust turbojets. To keep costs down, it was decided that these vessels would have to last as long as possible, so their hulls were made as strong as possible with new advanced armour, inspired by excursions into the End. Obsidian ribs hold the vessel together, formed from the vast amounts of lava available in the Nether- however, a full shell would have been too heavy, and compromised the vessel's buoyancy.

INCIDENTS

So far all four commissioned vessels have performed as expected, with AIS-1 Goliath frightening off a Carthaginian incursion into Iyectan naval territory by utilising a rapid, direct approach vector, the distinctive twin turboject stereo engine roar and the vessel's hithero obscurity to intimidate the opposing recon vessel. Shots were taken at it during the engagement- however, from the Carthaginian perspective of the situation, it appeared no damage was taken, as the ship moved too quickly, under a curtain of spray, for them to tell. AIS-0 Scorpion, the prototype vessel, rammed an escort frigate at maximum speed during an attempt to destroy the experimental vessel- however, nearly no damage was taken, and the vessel swiftly reclaimed before further damage was done to the dockyard.

These vessels are highly capable but often unpopular with crew, as jet engines are really loud.
