What is the Woolworth Building?

The Woolworth Building (233 Broadway) is the famous capital of the Woolworth pharmaceutical company of the 20th century. Today, the building houses many floors of offices, with a few multi-million dollar residences taking up the penthouse floors at the top of the building. The building was constructed in 1913 and was the tallest building in the world until 1930, standing at a remarkable height of 792 feet, or 241 meters.

Artist's Statement:

My representation of the building is built in 2:1 scale or two blocks to one meter. If I had built at 1:1 scale, the building would not have been split in half, but I would have lost 50% of the detail, and scaling would have been near impossible. Building in 2:1 scale lets me fit a lot more into the building, even if it feels a lot bigger than it really is in survival. Ultimately, this building was not built for survival purposes but as art.
