Introducing SS LEVIATHAN in Minecraft!
This is a 1:1 scale build of the United States Liner SS Leviathan. This build features her First, Second, and Tourist Third Class interiors.
A few things to Note about this build:
1) I recommend you use the Natural Texture Pack for full immersion. Here is the Java Link.
2) I build in 1:1 scale, but building in this scale comes with limitations. Some areas may be distorted or compromised due to scale and sizing when building in 1:1. Compromises have to be made in order to complete the build so some areas may not actually resemble the actual thing. (This goes for all future builds).
3) This build does not feature cabins, engine rooms, or crew member spaces. There is dead space unfortunately, but I try my best to accurately recreate the popular venues onboard. All builds primarily focuses on class accommodations (Lounges, Dining Rooms, etc).
Short history of the SS Leviathan
She was originally the SS Vaterland for Hamburg America Line and was the second Imperator Class ship. Vaterland only served on the route for less than a year before being laid up at the line's piers in the neutral United States due to the start of World War I and risk of seizure by the Allies at sea. But near the end the War, she was requisitioned was given to the US and was named USS Vaterland and served to transport troops. After the war, she was transferred to United States Line and was overhauled and renamed SS Leviathan. Leviathan did many transatlantic crossings throughout her career and was a favorite among many. In her later years, she wasn’t being profitable. In 1937, she was sold to British Metal Industries and was scrapped but final demolition wasn’t finished until 1946, after the war. Marking the end of her 32-year-long life.
