This is my recreation of the Temple of Jupiter, which once stood strong at the Sanctuary of Jupiter in Baalbek, modern-day Lebanon. It is widely considered by historians to be the largest traditional Roman temple of the Roman world -- particularly during the imperial era. Construction likely began around 16 BCE and concluded in AD 60, but the entire sanctuary of Jupiter, which included the famous Temple of Bacchus and the Temple of Venus, was built over an approximate 200 year period. The Temple of Jupiter was truly a sight to behold, but today, only six columns, a part of the architrave (first tier of the entablature), and pats of the temple podium still exist. Everything else has succumbed to ruins over time.

With respect to the above notion, I endeavored to make this recreation the largest and most detailed temple I have ever made. My recreation was made in a 5:1 scale (amplified by 5x), is in the proper proportions, and measured accordingly. However, I chose to make this temple in the Composite order rather than the Corinthian order as to tackle two monumental birds with one stone: (1) that the Temple of Jupiter at Baalbek has never been built before to this scale and level of detail, and (2) that Composite columns have never been constructed to this size before in Minecraft.

Temple of Jupiter Interior: At the moment, the interior of this temple has yet to be finished. I didn't have enough time to get it done before I left for my trip, but when i return, it will be one of the first things I'll complete. It'll be made known in a future update, so stay tuned!

Forum of Augustus + Temple of Mars Ultor: If you are not aware, my main project right now is the Imperial Fora, which includes the Forum of Caesar, the Forum of Augustus, the Temple of Peace, the Forum of Nerva, and the Forum of Trajan. Caesar and Trajan have already been built, and you can download the maps on my page! But, expect the Forum of Augustus with the Temple of Mars Ultor map to be released on PMC around April 12th.

Next mega temple project: Let me know what you'd like to see next! What I may do is alternate between a Forum build and a mega structure build like this one if the Temple of Jupiter post does well and there's interest. Table's always open for ideas (even though I already have lots haha) :D
