The Binding of Fenris can be found on Creationbay at /warp Fenris
This build was inspired by medieval Norse stave churches (stavkirke). It's not very true to genuine stave churches in construction or anything though, except for the plentiful use of woods. The second inspiration for this build comes from norse mythology. I don't know how realistic it would be to see elements of norse mythology in christian churches but what the heck, this is minecraft!
I've done some terraforming to the environment: I put the main build on a platform built rivers flowing from the build into the naturally generated rivers in front of and behind it, and did some icescaping on the rivers, created some small islands etc.
I also built some peripheral structures and paths connecting them to the main build. A lighthouse with dock, a dockhouse and small longboat which is stranded there for the winter, and a warp station with lore, a map and a comment board. A family of polarbears and even a walrus showed up to check out the awesome
Some Worldedit was used for mirroring parts of the build and layering the snow all around
Lore
Fenris was a giant wolf which was foretold to swallow Odin when ragnarok came. To prevent this the Æsir (the norse gods) tried to trap Fenris. They asked the dwarves of Svartalfheim to create them an unbreakable fetter. The fetter they created, Gleipnir, was smooth and soft as a silken ribbon but incredibly strong. The Æsir brought the fetter to Fenris and told him that surely he could break the ribbon, and that if he couldn't he would be set free as he would not pose a threat to them. Fenris distrusted the gods and agreed to be bound with the fetter on the condition that one of them put his hand in his mouth as a sign of good faith.
The gods bound Fenris with Gleipnir, and when Fenris tried to break free he couldn't. The more the wolf struggled the tighter Gleipnir bound him. Enraged by the gods' betrayal, Fenris bit of Tyr's hand, who had placed it in his mouth. The wolf opened his mouth widely and tried to bite the other gods, but they threw a sword into his mouth; the hilt on his lower gums and the point of the blade on his upper gums. Fenris let out a terrible howl and saliva flowed from his open mouth and from this saliva formed the river Ván.
And thus Fenris the wolf will lie there bound untill Ragnarok, when his sons Sköll and Hati will swallow the sun and the moon and the great wolf will break free.

Smexy Shaders : by Hegel 03/03/2015 5:17:42 amMar 3rd, 2015
I got shaders! They're pretty low-end since I've got a very low-end gpu... Still looking very sexy though.
The binding of Fenris is kinda hard to capture with shaders since it's so big inside and not very well lit-up. On top of that I had problems getting the entire build to render at the same time without totally freezing up.
I hope you guys like the screenshots, I do. If anyone knows any good low-end shaders I'm open to suggestions. I'm currently using CUDA shaders and Paolo's lagless shaders.

I like the wolf statue.
I really hope for you that there was no lighting that lit the roof on fire while constucting.
I still remember my old survival wooden fort. After mining coming backup missing one tower and turn around to see my other one remains burning down of the lighting. *Sich*
