Jericho is considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with evidence of human settlements dating back to 8,000 BCE. The city is located in the West Bank, near the Jordan River and the Dead Sea, and is believed to have been an important trading hub in ancient times. In the Bible, Jericho is most famous for the story of the Israelites, led by Joshua, conquering the city by marching around its walls for seven days and then blowing their trumpets.
