The Echonix is a virtual reality The Echonix Venture is trying develop under the illusion of a logistics company. The main story I've written happens within the simulation, so this is more of a prequel, about how people get trapped within the simulation

The story is that you break into the skyscraper, as some kind of urban explorer. The Echonix Venture (under the name Echonix Logistix) has gone bust after it was stopped being secretly funded by a corrupt government. However, the virtual reality is still running with the aging subjects still trapped within it. You discover the simulation 'portal' and enter briefly, causing the some subjects to exit. They exit the siulation as damaged single eyed robot-looking entities because it's more of an alternate reality that you physically enter and are controlled within. Once you exit, you have have to shut the simulation down, but the docile robot-looking things turn hostile and you have to fight them off.

Although people live in peace in the simulation, they lose all sense individualism and become passive drones. Any anomalies in their 'perfect' lives are known as The Negatives, which is what you are seen as to them when you enter the simulation and rip them out of it.

To make it clearer, the logistics company uses only the white, gray and turquoise colour scheme, while the simulation will use the purple, black and white, seen on the robot-like entities seen in the last image.
