The first half of the obsidian project, the Great Hall was hollowed out by hand, at bedrock level, accessible only through a series of security doors and a "water elevator". A throne room resides on one wing, a seat of lapis lazuli in the center. The portal to the Nether, through which lies the Great Tower's splendor. Lit redstone wire adorns the floor, a simple pattern to break the monotony of the purple-black obsidian. It is the product of days of work and the lives of many "Steve"s.

Additional Notes

There is a huge lava river behind the skull painting. An accident with an above-ground lake gave me the idea of a huge obsidian room, and, thus, the Great Hall was born.

The room was originally full of stone, dirt, gravel, and the like. And a small lava lake. While clearing out the room proper, lava came pouring out of the cube of stone, killing yet another Steve. The cleanup was short, and the losses were few.

There is a "secret staircase" behind the waterfall. It wraps around the shaft that houses the fall, and allows a player to climb topside if he takes the water elevator.

In the same area as the "secret staircase" is a hidden room with a chest full of my more precious materials. Gravel and traps make good to keep people out.

There is a small hallway before the throne room. It was meant to be a library, but the lava flow from the throne room lit the area on fire and I have not fixed it yet.

Yes, the two materials that make up the throne room are Soul Sand and Netherrack.

The chandelier was originally centered. Then I switched dimensions without fixing the chandelier. Whoops.
