This tower is the culmination of hours of work and patience. Accidents that flooded my mine shafts with lava were wrangled into obsidian. The obsidian was mined and built into a tower and "Great Hall" that connect via Nether portals. This is the tower, made and gathered by hand from raw materials.
The tower is as tall as the map allows, permitting for the beautiful view from the top.
The glass is in place partly because I wanted to see out and partly because I was running out of obsidian by that point. I had five blocks left over when this (Great Hall and Great Tower) was all said and done.
The tower flows with the landscape. Anything that didn't have to be destroyed to place a block was left alone.
This project spawned out of an abandoned Large Hadron Collider model.
Additional Notes
The floating shrubs were made mostly through clipping issues with the growth algorithm in a rain forest biome. Other trees were made by simply placing a block of dirt, growing a tree, breaking the dirt, and placing what I wanted underneath.
