This is an entry for this contest.

You can see a faint light at the end of the tunnel, the size of a eye of a needle. You walk faster to reach the light, you can see the light getting slightly larger each 5 steps. You pick up the pace and go into a steady sprint racing towards the light. It gets much bigger and bigger until finally you see this portal thing. You jump through and this is where you land. You fall 1m from the air and scrape your knee slightly. You get up and look around. Up ahead is a small building, a cottage. You walk measly up towards the cottage to see if anybody is here. You knock on the door 3 times, just to grab their attention. Nothing. You knock again. Nothing. You decide to let yourself in and look around. You hear a bark to your left as you see a medium sized grey dog staring at you with its large, emerald eyes. Behind it there is a fire, roaring with fierceness like a beast breaking from a cage. You look around and find a bed, kitchen, a desk and some other items of furniture. 'Hmmmm' you mumble, confused. You wonder where the owner of the house is so you turn and exit through the door. You feel the sharp gravel scraping your leather shoes but you continue onwards and see a small pond, a boat tied up and what appears to be a campfire, alight. You puzzle at why the fires are going and why everything is so quiet. You think they probably have gone to chop wood or something or they are mining diamonds, but your wrong. They're gone forever, the 'thing' took them.

Thanks guys for reading that. This is the first proper competition I have entered and have been excited about entering. Sorry if that story above is a bit boring, I wrote it all at once. 
Inside the cottage are a fireplace, table, bed, kitchen, desk and storage.
Outside you will find a pond and a boat moored up to the side. Also outside is a small campfire with a pot on there.
Near the front of the house is a waterfall, if you go through the waterfall there may be a secret :P
