Greetings everyone!

I may or may not have been inactive on PMC for the last, erm, year, but I am back.

Today, I am glad to present you my attempt at reproducing the Waddesdon manor, situated in the rainy londonian countryside.

A bit of context first. This manor was initially requested by baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, so that it would serve as a residence for grand entertaining and a refuge for his collection.
Considering is appreciation towards the french châteaux, the architect had to design this residence in a
french Neo-Renaissance style. Many people first think of a castle at the sight of this structure,
turns out they are wrong.

The construction started in 1874 and lasted for around 15 years.
Great effort was put in adjusting the terrain so that it would support the house and the gardens.
It was later decided that the manor had to be expanded, which led to the addition of appartments now situated on the west side of the structure. I decided not to reproduce this part as it felt more like addons.

I quickly fell in love with a few its aspects.

First, as usual, I tried to look for a structure of which the overall shape is asymetrical.
From a bird's view, this can more easily be seen.

Second, who does not like anything inspired the castles de la Loire? Certainly not me. The balance between the leftovers of the french classicism mixed with fine florishes makes these castles really pleasing to the eyes.

Let us get a bit more technical perhaps.

My style did change considerably and is somewhat more up to date. Take for example my last project, the Moszna castle. The walls are quite, maybe too detailed and lack of robustness.
The eyes are therefore often overwhelmed. But back in the days, this was common. Today, which one would assume may be due to the increase of the height limit, we tend to build bigger things and details were inevitably influenced by that.
Now that we often render builds using external programs, it is a known fact that structures with not as much florishes look better. Although, it is easy to say that I did keep part of my past; indeed,
my facades tend to be quite detailed still.

But I think many would agree that it is gratifying to have a style that can be consider yours.
Some may then wonder what made me change. Well, it just... happened. I was powerless against it.
This transformations though would have never seen the light if I had not joined the NewHeaven build team.

Collaborating and sharing ideas with people does change you subconsciously. To be a bit more specific, I started building the Waddesdon manor right after I had finished working on the Louvre museum with the rest of the NewHeaven team. It greatly influenced me as it did leave some sort of a mark on me which I have yet to recover from. Between that, the manor and my trip to Paris, I may have forgotten that there were other styles of architecture out there...

Let us get back to the manor itself. Once again, I need to mention that this is not a perfect replica and that my initial intention was to pay tribute to this beautiful structure that no one seems to be talking about.
As to the terrain and the gardens, please do not be too harsh as it is clearly not my area. In reality, the gardens do not stop where I did. This domain, now own by the National Trust, is also house to beehives and greenhouses.

Even if some of the trees are from my own hand, I do not take credits for them, as many were picked from bundles.

My inactivity was not absolute though, as I built a few things on my own that were not worth a PMC post.I posted them on Twitter instead. Finally, I would like to thank Iskilia, the man behind the beautiful render.

I was having some trouble finding out how the connecting building to the roof is working since I'm not very familair with this style and doing a palace build, and this is one of the more cleaner but very very good looking and working ones I found. PS. Love the fountain!

I'm afraid but there isn't an interior at the moment. Although in the future there may be one.

The detail of this build is truly spectacular! I didn't quite understand what you were trying to say on the sign in that entryway, though.

It basically says that if you are willing to use the map for any specific reasons to just contact me. The other signs reminds the reader that I do not take credits for the trees.
