Years ago, the Nether was full of life. Massive reptiles clambered through caverns covered in rainbows of fungi. Piglins hunted a wide variety of creatures that wandered the forests.
But one day, something new appeared. Climbing out of the graves of piglins, living corpses began to stalk the cliffs, attacking anything they saw. The piglins saw a simple solution, and began to burn their dead. But when the bodies were thrown into the fire, it turned blue, and the air was filled with a stream of ethereal faces. Explorers followed them and found a strange rift that spewed out dark skeletal creatures. The rock around it had decayed into a thick soil, and the fungi turned a sickly teal.
The piglins searched for a way to close the rift, or counter its influence, but none was ever found. The warped landscape continued to spread, and more and more monsters appeared to hunt down the natural life of the Nether. Eventually, there was only a single variety of fungi and three animals left. The hoglins, who had grown increasingly aggressive, the striders, who had managed to evolve to live peacefully with the monsters and feed on the warped fungi, and the piglins, who's attempts to retake the Nether were repeatedly foiled by constant infighting.
Meanwhile, the monsters grew more organized, building sprawling fortresses to house their spawners. At the center of their domain lies the grandest of these fortresses, the Wither's Keep, built around the rift itself. From it, the Wither plots the conquest of the Nether, as the newly formed skeletons set out to enact these plans.
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy my entry, I had a lot of fun building it and writing the story.

(Also seems like a good time to say, so: Thank you for all the many diamonds on my submissions. o: It was really nice to see. :) I appreciate it.)
And you definitely deserve all the diamonds you get, your builds are amazing.
