I built this two months ago as my entry to be allowed to contribute to Bohtauri's amazing Project 1845 build. To prove your worth as a builder or whatever you need to build a copy of the Tower of Buddhist Incense, part of the Temple of Buddhist Virtue in the Summer Palace in Beijing. Unfortunately I never heard back from the project managers, despite my reaching out to them on a few occasions. This is more than a bit annoying, but at least I got a cool build to show for it.

As always, I found it a bit difficult to fight my impulse to replicate every detail at the expense of maintaining an accurate scale, but I am pretty pleased with the results. The real tower is about 40 meters tall atop a 21 meter base; this one is 43 meters atop an accurately-scaled base. I wasn't quite able to replicate the gables' flare satisfactorily but otherwise I felt I was able to capture the look and feel of the building quite accurately.

The texture pack is the very pretty Authentic Chinese V4, again by Bohtauri.

Unfortunately, since I usually play in 1.6.4 and this was built in 1.7.3(?), I accidentally fired up the game in the wrong version and watched as the entire roof disappeared as MC didn't recognize the blocks, so there will be no download. Hopefully this might serve as inspiration to anyone trying to take part in the project, though.
