The game's not out yet. But I can supply you with what you can expect to come.

1. Fighters

In a typical Smash fangame, you'd expect to see Nintendo fighters. But instead, you'll get to play as kits! Eight kits are default, and an additional four are unlockable.

Each kit can have up to four weapons: One main weapon, two sub weapons, and a Final Smash, which can be used after destroying a Smash Ball. However, not all kits will have all of these. Some may have only one sub weapon, and others may have none at all. But the main weapon and the Final Smash are guaranteed to be in the kit. In the spoiler is a list of the default kits.

NOTE: Text in blue represent enchantments, Italics represent name changes.

2. Stages

Just like in Ultimate, you must pick the stage first before you select your characters. You start with six stages and you can unlock an additional eight. The classic Battlefield and Final Destination return, of course. Four are based off of structures/biomes, and those stages have their own unique mechanic. The other eight are original and have no mechanics. In the spoiler is a list of the four stages with mechanics.
Spoiler - click to reveal
Village
Mechanic: Dual-Plane
In this stage, you can warp to the foreground and background. In the fore you can warp to the back by running into the left house, and you'll find yourself on the well. Enter the well to return to the foreground, on top of the right house.

Dungeon
Mechanic: Mob Spawning
This stage holds a mob spawner in the middle, which spawns zombies. These zombies spawn once every five seconds. Don't let them pile up or everyone may find themselves overwhelmed.

Nether Fortress
Mechanic: Danger Zones
The danger zones are actually redstone blocks. Touch them and you'll take damage as if you were in lava. But there's more. If you touch these with less than 30% of your max HP stat, you die INSTANTLY. You get a point for knocking enemies into these zones, too.

Ocean Monument
Mechanic: Moving Platforms
The stage has three platforms. One right above the stage, and two on the outskirts. The inner platform moves from side to side, and the outer platforms move away and into the main platform.
Now, you might remember 8-Player Smash from Smash 4 and Ultimate. Good news-- that returns in Ultra. But there's a twist to make it even better...

3. 3D Smash!!

Yes, you read that right! 8-Player Smash is now 3D! Each stage has a 3D counterpart, so you don't need to worry about new themes introduced or taken out. Below is a list of the 3D default stages and their changes, with the exception of 3D Final Destination.
Spoiler - click to reveal
3D Battlefield
The platforms now form a pyramid-- 4 at the bottom, 1 on top.

3D Village
The dual planes are removed. Now a library, church, blacksmith, and butcher's shop sit at the corners of the map.

3D Dungeon
A skeleton spawner is added. Both spawners' spawning time has been increased to 8 seconds, but they both spawn mobs simultaneously.

3D Nether Fortress
There are now more platforms, and danger zones are much more numerous and more spread out.

3D Ocean Monument
Now there are four platforms, and they all move around in a circle over the stage.

4. Gamemodes

Of course, without modes there wouldn't be any smashing. In Ultra, there are five modes-- all are returning ones.

The classic Time and Stock return. In Time, you fight for the most points within the time limit. In Stock, you're locked in a survival match.

Coin and Stamina, the lesser-known modes, also return. In Coin, hit an enemy to make them drop coins. Get the most coins within the time limit to win! And a new mechanic has been added. As you collect coins, you may notice your life meter filling up. Completely fill it up (10,000 coins) to automatically win by knockout! Stamina follows classic fighting games. Fight until your enemies' HP reaches 0!

And a forgotten mode from Melee returns: Bonus! You fight for the most points, but your fighting style can give you points as well (jumping a lot, spamming a weapon, etc.).

5. Classic

In Classic mode, you fight your way to the final boss.

This follows the classic battle-after-battle format, which was featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl.

You can change the intensity to your liking. The harder the intensity, you get greater rewards! You can also make it easier than normal, but you won't net as much loot. Also, you can adjust how many lives you have, from 1 to 5. More lives mean less rewards, though.

Note that simply killing your opponent won't do. You'll have to knock them off the arena.

And you can also get a friend to join for co-op classic mode, just like in Smash Wii U.

Spoiler below contains what battles will be fought.
Spoiler - click to reveal
Level 1: Duel
One randomly-selected fighter is chosen as the opponent. The battle takes place at the Village stage.

Level 2: Tag Battle
Two randomly-selected fighters are chosen as the enemy team. Your ally will always be a Wolf. The battle takes place at the Dungeon stage.

Level 3: Target Smash!!
In this stage, you will have 2 minutes to destroy all 10 targets within the randomly-generated stage.

Level 4: Duel
One randomly-selected fighter is chosen as the opponent. The battle takes place at the Nether Fortress stage.

Level 5: Miniboss
One randomly-selected fighter is chosen as the opponent and has a buff of Strength III. Your two allies will always be two Wolves. The battle takes place at the Ocean Monument stage.

Level 6: Board the Platforms
In this stage, you will have 2 minutes to land on all 10 platforms within the randomly-generated stage.

Level 7: Duel
One randomly-selected fighter is chosen as the opponent. The battle takes place at the Village stage again, or if at least one has been unlocked, an unlockable stage.

Level 8: Parkour Rush
In this stage, you have 1 minute to run as far as you can into the parkour course. You must get a score of 200 blocks or higher to pass the level.

Level 9: Mirror Boss
In this stage, you will fight your own kit here. The stage takes place at the Meta Crystal stage, a stage exclusive to Classic.

Level 10: Multi-Man Smash
In this stage, you will fight a team of 30 weaker fighters, each one randomly chosen. Unlockable fighters will never be chosen here. The stage takes place at the Battlefield stage.

Final Stage: Master Boss
In this stage, you will fight your own kit again. The stage takes place at the Final Destination stage. However, simply knocking this fighter out of the stage will not do anything-- they'll just teleport back up. To win, you must deplete their HP to 0. The Master Boss's HP will scale in difficulty.
6. Stadium

Stadium returns, and there are four modes to choose from. In the spoiler are the available modes.
Spoiler - click to reveal
Target Smash!!
Target Smash finally returns. Target Smash features 10 levels to choose from, each getting progressively harder. You can also choose to get a randomly-generated stage, so you can always experience something fresh from this mode.

Board the Platforms!
Board the Platforms also returns. Just like Target Smash, Board the Platforms features 10 levels to choose from, each getting progressively harder. A randomly-generated stage is also available.

Multi-Man Smash
Multi-Man Smash is a mode where you have to beat a horde of fighters. Also, Battlefield is no longer the only stage available for Multi-Man Smash. All other stages are available to play on Multi-Man Smash!

Parkour Rush
Parkour Rush is an all-new mode where you have to run as far as you can into the randomly-generated parkour course within 5 minutes. Of course, to help with high scores, timers are placed throughout the course.
All of these modes are available for 2-player co-op, or 4-player competition.

7. Ultra Smash Bros. OST

The game utilizes a resource pack, in which custom music plays! By default, two music tracks are available for each stage, and by playing on each stage some more, you get more music tracks for said stage. A total of 5 music tracks are available for each stage, provided you have unlocked all of them. The total amount of music for Ultra Smash Bros. is 70 tracks, however, this may change.

HELP WANTED: Looking for talented, non-profit composers to make music for the game. Up to the job? Let me know in the comments.

The player must refill by sneaking while on their ink. Using Ink Armor will automatically refill the ink.
Unlock Conditions: Clear Classic on 8.0 difficulty or higher and two lives with at most one continue.

Stages
Frosted Taiga
This stage has two spruce trees on either side of the battlefield. There are ladders you can climb up to reach the top of the trees, which can prove a useful sniping point.
Unlock Conditions: Complete Classic with any fighter.

Atlas Plains
This stage has two platforms, and each are slightly slanted towards the center of the stage.
Unlock Conditions: Complete Classic with all default fighters, each taking less than 8 minutes.

Ripple Coast
This stage has one platform to the right, and a current of water flowing to the left, which can push you off the stage if you're not careful.
Unlock Conditions: Play 100 matches.

Cobble Heights
In this stage, the terrain to the left forms a mountain, which is rather high up. Using the ladders and stairs can help with climbing the mountain.
Unlock Conditions: Beat randomly-generated games of Target Smash and Board the Platforms, each requiring a total of 50.

Sunshade Desert
In this stage, there are two floating islands on either side of the stage, however, the center island is completely flat, just like Final Destination.
Unlock Conditions: Score 20 KOs (Not kills, but winning by knockout) in Coin matches.

Clearbrook River
This stage has a single platform in the middle, which is rather high up and can't be jumped up by normal means of jumping. Instead, you'll have to use a platform (which is sitting on the floor by the way) which is high enough for you to jump onto the center platform. Other than that, the entire stage is separated by a river, hence the stage's name.
Unlock Conditions: Survive a 15-Minute Multi-Man Smash and score at least 100 kills.

Bolderfall Cliffs
This stage features two high cliffs on either side, and you can move across them using a bridge. You can also jump into the canyon, but don't worry-- you're not stuck. You can exit by climbing a ladder on either side.
Unlock Conditions: Unlock every fighter.

Victor Woods
This stage is filled with trees, so knockback is pretty much useless... unless you're fighting above the trees. It's possible to get out of the vegetation by either building up into one of the few openings of the forest, or by simply climbing out one of the ladders that's embedded in the trees.
Unlock Conditions: Score at least a single KO in a solo Cruel Multi-Man Smash.
