"I started by making a world in worldpainter, making a big valley surrounded by mountains. I exported the map with a different underground material (brown clay) , then i selected the mountains where i wanted to build underground structures with MCedit and filtered the brown clay to air. Making only the surface there.
To make the mountain gate and its inside i looked alot at Erebor from Tolkiens work and orzammar from Dragon age for inspiration, however i didn't want to make it a replica of on the them.
The towers and other buildings have a bit of inspiration from The Dwemers from The Elder Scrolls.
I really liked the orange/yellow steel like material and used it for walls and roofs. I eventually also used it in the insides of the mountain halls. Orange is used for the more highborn and higher classed dwarves, or military buildings. The yellow ones are used for the more lower classed dwarves." (taken from forum post)
It will take a while to finish this build, so don't expect a download anytime soon.
