It was built as a place of worship, dedicated to the moon god Nanna in the Sumerian city of Ur in ancient Mesopotamia.
The ziggurat measures around 64 m (210 ft) in length, 45 m (148 ft) in width and over 30 m (98 ft) tall
It is estimated that just the lower portion of the ziggurat, which supported the first terrace, would have used 720,000+ baked bricks.
Construction date estimates are loose, but it is believed that construction began around 2100 BC, and was completed around 2050 BC, Thus making the structure close to 4122 years old from today.
