Welcome to The Skiving Scholar! The Skiving Scholar is a friendly community-based Minecraft survival server - fully updated to 1.16.5!
The server aims to have a friendly community - this is allowed for by easy to make land protections as well as the absence of any PVP (except for friendly duels in our arena). Other features include Towny, custom classes, magic powers and more!
One of the server's main unique aspects is the use of magic. After joining you will choose a (non-magical) Profession and a (magical) Power. There's a description of these below!
Magic! Professions!
Priest - perform weddings.
Miner - mine blocks faster (Haste I).
Warrior - chance to deflect enemy attacks.
Farmer - when harvesting wheat, there's a chance you'll get a random crop too.
Hunter - animals you kill drop cooked meat.
Fletcher - 50% arrow recovery.
Powers!
Beast - sprint faster and faster the longer you go without stopping.
Druid - every 45 minutes, perform a ceremony to set the time/weather.
Spell Bow - left click with a bow to select your bow mode: Lava, Ice, Wither, Poison, Explosion, Torch and Teleport.
Pyromancer - right click with any sword to shoot a small fireball.
Valkyrie - any horse you ride can fly as if they were a Pegasus.
Merperson - immune to drowning.
Afflictions!
Vampire - get stronger the more mobs you kill, but suffer from withdrawal.
Juggernaut - take half as much damage from mobs, but deal half as much too.
Glass Knight - deal twice as much damage to mobs, but take twice as much too.
Werewolf - can only eat raw meat - but gain golden apple effect when full.
Wererabbit - can jump high and only take 1 heart fall damage maximum - but can only eat carrots.
Ent - heal when out in the sun - but take extra fire damage.
Each Profession, Power and Affliction has unique magic items they have access to in /shop - e.g. Vampires have items that enable bat flight.
Land protection! Towny is used to create protections. And what if something outside a protection gets griefed? We'll fix that as soon as possible for you using block logs - protections are just there to make it so you can protect yourself, but even if you do get griefed, we'll fix it for you!
