The year is 2096. Humans have reached the peak of technology. They have nearly exhausted the resources on planet earth, designed interstellar spacecraft, built civilizations on distant planets. But one thing they could never quite fight: Death. Death was a fact; it was the definitive end of every life. There was no way to cure it once it happened. No way to prevent it.

But there was a way to slow it down.

Goliath Scientific Initiative invented a way to prolong life for hundreds of years. The GSI augmentations overlapped the whole body, cleaning the bloodstream and constantly sending electric signals to vital organs and bodily systems. This would ultimately create a fully healthy human body which would not fall to any illness, not even fall to age. But over time, the mind would degrade. Fear and anger would overcome the augmented human. They would forget what they were, forget they were human. In this state of confusion, they became violent. With the added strength of the suit, a violent Augmented Being could easily break through even the most durable material. Even bedrock.
Soon the streets ran with the blood of innocents.
Buildings were destroyed. Everything was destroyed.

In time, the augmented will destroy each other. I can only hope.
I hide here, knowing I will die soon. I startle at every movement outside.
The Augmented draw near.
And this is how the human race ends, ironically so by trying to prolong life.
