One storm filled evening, my surface was struck with lightning.
I'm not sure when but one day I began to see, and for many suns and moons there after, watched.
I learned of the animals that inhabit the area, and watched as nature sprawled over the landscape.

One storm filled evening, my surface was struck with lightning.
I began to hear, and for many more suns and moons there after, listened.
I learned of the words of the builders, and I started to think.

One storm filled day, my surface was struck with lightning.
I began to move.

It had been thousands of days before I was able to release myself from my housing. In that time, the builders dwindled, and one day were no more.

Once free, I spent the next 50 days turning to see where I was trapped. I saw others in the walls, like me but not me. But they did not move, they did not hear, they did not see. I was alone.

I slowly moved myself atop of the builder's structure, in hopes of being struck by lightning once more. It clearly had an effect on me, and if it worked for me, it may work for the others!

I waited for the next storm, and with anticipation of that electrified night, braced. I was struck and I began to move, think, see, hear quicker. It felt incredible!

I waited and hoped for the others to be struck by the lightning, and hundreds of storms later came to reason that they would never.

I began to travel the lands wandering aimlessly for countless days. It must have been a couple of hundred years before I saw strange creatures that looked like the builders, but somewhat different. I began to live with them and I learnt of food and currency, of culture and cultivation. It seemed that each Villager had a role to play, a place in their world. What was mine?

One of the Villagers worked with metals, and he and I spent many evenings discussing late in to the evening as to the nature of my consciousness. I allowed him to take a sample of my surface, and he told me that he found an irregular mixture of stone, iron-dust and redstone-dust.

He speculated that my material was arranged in such a way, that the lightning was attracted to my iron, but began the spark of my redstone circuitry. As time passed, my exposed redstone was berated by the elements which caused more and more connections to be made. I was developing, changing, all the while being trapped within the walls of my brothers and sisters.

I convinced the metal worker to journey with me to the place of my birth. Once we arrived, he took samples of my brethren. They confirmed what I already knew. They were not like me. They could never become more than the surface they were chiseled in to by the unknowing hands of the builders.

I am the only one of my kind.

This is my journey.

Hi folks, I hope you like my competition submission. I decided to go with Aztec over Egyptian as I literally have Aztec in my name!

I decided to stray away from the traditional Aztec warrior, tribesman idea as I think there would be too many amazing artists that would blow me out of the water! So I began to think of how to utilise the patterns used in Aztec carving and culture.

Based on the image provided by PMC, I thought what kind of material the Aztecs may have carved their symbology in to, and eventually concluded on using the sample patterns on stone. However, the narrative forced it so that moss would have to be grown over the stone due to the length of time portrayed. So I made 8x8 mossy stone bricks and then layer some carvings over it. I wish I was better at shading, because the carvings are quite... prominent...

I also decided to take it a little bit further and gave it vines for hair because again, narrative ;D.

I'm really happy with the idea, but do let me know what you think and how to improve! ^_^
