Hello everybody! This skin is not only an epic skin of me in my fencing gear, it will also serve as an introduction to me, Mal, or discworld, for The Geek Elite. This is a group, made by holdensaunt, which is dedicated to being geeky, and providing geeky things for Minecraft.

First of all, let me just explain this skin. I am a fencer, and although I started with foil, I recently switched to epee, which is similar, but has a lot of unique features. In a way, I've always loved swords, as I consider melee weapons to be far superior in style and skill required than, say, guns. Obviously, I've still got my turquoise shoes.

My favorite geeky character is Sergeant Angua von à berwald, from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. She is the awesome werewolf of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, and she reminds me a lot of myself.

About Me: I am Mal, a 16-year-old girl from California, and a proud geek. I spend most of my time organizing my high school's video game club, of which I am founder and president. I also like to write games, especially choose your own adventure style games, and am currently working on a mystery/detective game for my computer programming class. My favorite games are Skyrim, Minecraft, Okami, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I fence epee, and I've also been known to practice throwing knives and shuriken. My favorite TV shows are Sherlock, Doctor Who, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. My favorite movies are Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Princess Bride, and the Lord of the Rings movies. My favorite books are, of course, Discworld books, and include Thud!, Night Watch, Wyrd Sisters, Monstrous Regiment, and Going Postal. I like other books, too, like Harry Potter, Ender's Shadow, and Calvin and Hobbes (not really a book, but whatever).

I am joining this club because I love being a geek, and meeting other people who share my interests. Minecraft is a great way to be creative and incorporate all the best subjects through building and skinning. As for why I am a geek, I guess I always have been. I'm really into math and computer sciences, and as a girl this gave me little options for friend groups. My friends aren't all geeks, but most of them are, and I am certainly not the least geeky of them (I may be the most). Geeks are cool, and smart, and will probably be the ones ruling the world as society digs deeper into a computer-based world, and I hope to be part of that ruling class (this is mostly a joke... but kinda true).

Finally, I'll explain my style. I like to have fairly realistic skins, but I feel that too much shading bogs it down. I prefer just a little shading so it's not totally flat, but not so much that it takes away from Minecraft's blocky nature. I base my skins on characters from movies, games, or books, or on cool people from history (Einstein, for example). Also, I have made several skins of myself, in which you may note that I always have turquoise shoes. I always wear turquoise shoes, if I can help it.
