This is a houmongi kimono (formal visiting kimono) I made for April. The color combination I've used is called "sakuramoegi" (literally: cherry blossom green) and it is good for spring (https://wafuku.wordpress.com/2011/05/15/japanese-colour-names-seasonal-combinations/), possibly for when the sakura trees get their leaves. The pattern on the kimono features keshiki (景色), that is to say a scenery. I've drawn mountains, trees, a teahouse and a river. The white on the ground could be white flowers growing in the garden, or rather, white sakura petals that are falling from the trees. I was actually aiming for gosho-doki, a teahouse motif but it would also have seasonal flowers. The fukuro obi is wrapped in nijuudaiko musubi and the obi features hiogi, a sort of ceremonial fan that has tufts from the edges.

This is one of my submissions for the Spring Fling Event.

The hair is done in the traditional shimada hairstyle. I added some sakura related kanzashi but I felt like the kimono was a bit more mature and personally I feel less kanzashi would be used then. But I could always be wrong.

The collar is folded with the left side overlapping the right (as it should), an additional date eri is added to bring out the collar area and formality, and the back of the collar is pulled down to reveal the nape of the neck. I've also made a faint line under the obi to indicate an ohashori fold. She is wearing white tabi (socks) and zori (sandals).

Kimonos are a hobby of mine and I hope I've gotten most of the details right! ^____^
