Up in the cloud castle of Bishopthorpe Palace, Lady Fayelinn lived with her husband, Lord Forthwynde. They lived peacefully for many centuries until the souls of dusk attacked. This savage clan of warriors raided cloud castles all over the world in search for Lady Fayelinn. But they didn’t want her; they wanted her coronet. And they succeeded.

With the power from Lady Fayelinn’s coronet of the seven sentinels, they gained control over all of the cloud warriors that protected the border between the sky kingdom and the ground land. The people of the ground had no idea that there was life up in the clouds and that up until this day, their idyllic life was ensured by the fearless guardians of the border. They lived without fear of harm—not a single worry at all—that is, until the souls of dusk attacked their land. Without warning, the souls of dusk broke through the gate and killed off every last human. Since no one could stop them, these savage warriors claimed all of the land for themselves.


The souls of dusk weren't always bad though. They used to be a very prosperous tribe that never made contact with the outside land—until this fateful day when the quincentennial storm hit.

Nobody knows what causes it, and this isn’t any ordinary thunderstorm. This storm not only wreaks havoc every five centuries, but it lasts five years straight. A storm that on this day put the border between the sky kingdom and the ground land at risk, because during this event, it is the duty of the cloud warriors to keep the storm at bay for as long as they can. That is when the souls of dusk rebelled suddenly. They saw this opportunity to have more land to themselves—an entire world to themselves. They wanted the ground land.

The souls of dusk were an intelligent lot. They knew the only way to get down from the clouds was to possess the coronet of the seven sentinels. With Lady Fayelinn's coronet, the sentinels protecting the gate would become powerless. And the souls of the dusk could pass through to the ground land. When they dropped down upon the unsuspecting humans, they wiped them out within a single year.

Once the storm ended five years later, Lady Fayelinn and her guards descended from the sky to reclaim her coronet and regain control of the border. However, when they got down to the surface, all they saw was destruction. It was a horrific sight and Lady Fayelinn was overcome by an intense grief. But this grief quickly turned into determination to bring peace to the world. As they searched the land, the cloud warriors eventually found the souls of dusk, still looking for any survivors. The guards managed to over power the clan and returned the coronet back in the Lady’s hands. With her power restored, she brought the souls of dusk back up into the clouds, where they were imprisoned so that they could never bother the humans ever again.
