The original name I wanted to use was Technophile, which is a portmanteau of "technology" and the Latin suffix "phile" (which simply means "lover of"). That term has been used to describe technology enthusiasts since at least the late 60s, however, so I wanted something newer. Then a friend told me about a character in Borderlands 2 called a Mechromancer. It sounded nicer, was newer, and seemed to fit better with the CyberPunk theme, and considering the Minecraft content in Borderlands 2 (which this same friend also told me about), I thought it would be fitting if I brought a little Borderlands into Minecraft. Hence the name. Incidentally, the term "technomancer" has been in use since the early 90s in fantasy and science fiction publications like Aboriginal Science Fiction (published in 1990) and a GURPS role-playing book called GURPS Technomancer (published in 1998).

The term technomancer predates your submittion, therefore you aren't entitled to state that the idea for the name was stolen from you.
