In 2016 there has been a lot of conflict, whether political, personal, or other. I decided to do a skin that represents two sides of an argument coming together in one. In this case, red and blue have been representing opposite sides of battles for a long time. You could perceive it as Republicans and Democrats, or the red and blue that opposing teams are often dressed in in cartoons.
People have cried, families have been torn apart, and we have made a split between Red and Blue all across the world. We have labeled the other side as demons or crazy, and we are often stuck in our own echo chambers of hate and propaganda. We do not think that we can even coexist. We do not believe that there is a shade of purple between us. In reality, everything is some shade of purple, but we do not see it, which is why I call this skin Purple. What this skin represents is coexistence and acceptance, and that we are really all the same, no matter what shade of purple we are. It is also representing what I want during these holidays, the recognition that two sides of a battle can exist together. We should not be fighting because we all perceive ourselves as red and blue, but instead we should find a way to live together.
It's not the prettiest skin, and I'm not the most talented maker, but neither are any of us. We are not perfect, we are not just red or blue. We are all some shade of purple, and we should never divide ourselves because we believe we are red or blue.
We are all purple, and that is what unifies us instead of separating us. Always remember that, because we are all human, and we all feel the pain when a beloved family member or friend casts us off because we are perceived as red or blue.
